One of the biggest concerns about going through the Order of the Arrow (OA) Brotherhood is writing the Brotherhood letter. Many Ordeal members do not complete their Brotherhood part of the membership because of this fear. Some Ordeal members are convinced that the Brotherhood weekend is just a repeat of the ordeal. We adult leaders need to assure Scouts that this is not the case. The Brotherhood weekend does talk a great deal about what went on and the reason for the ordeal. This video is to help all Ordeal Scouts work through their fears and trepidations about Brotherhood. The Brotherhood letter is the culmination of all the Order of the Arrows traditions, Ordeal, and binding all of its members into its Brotherhood.

🔑 Show Notes: Brotherhood is the completion of the membership process in the Order of the Arrow. This helps the Scouts have a greater understanding of their Ordeal. Once you have gone through your Ordeal you will never do Ordeal again. Elangomat service is not required. But understanding the Ordeal is critical to many of the principles within the order. Service to your unit and the lodge and others is important. It also helps develop a concrete idea of how to plan and fulfill your pledge. Every lodge will have Brotherhood weekends where all five of the requirements are fulfilled for Brotherhood membership. One of the requirements is to review and write a Brotherhood letter.
✔ Explain what you think the obligation means to you.
✔ Describe how to fulfill your obligation in Scouting, your daily life, and your community.
✔ Make a specific plan to give service to others and the lodge.
