Notice at 55:00 that the Serbians conduct Strategic Redeployment as a result of a card event, even though the Serbians are under Level 1 Sanctions in the Foreign Attitude Track. In this game, card events override any regular rules prohibitions. So, the Serbians can conduct SR in these circumstances, irrespective of such sanctions.

Thank you, Tomislav! There's a lot to like in this game for me. It's about a conflict that has received very little attention in the wargaming world. It's a card-driven game where all three sides will have a chance to go on to the offensive at some time in the game. It is a true three-player game; the Bosniaks and Croats will be in conflict at times. I also like some of the mechanics involved. The "move before combat" allows for surprises in a game where there is no hidden information; the combat effectiveness multiplier is very simple but elegant; supply is critical in dictating strategy (tracing supply to foreign spaces or to key spaces in enclaves). The events in the game are very interesting: the Sarajevo Tunnel, powerful offensive cards, the dilemma of the use of foreign troops versus foreign attitude loss, etc. The production value of the components is also top notch. Also, the game plays in one afternoon, which is great to take to conventions. Thanks for designing such a well-thought and developed wargame. Cheers!

Thanks for this, Joe. A great play through, as always. I will strongly consider this game when next I go to my local game store. I noticed that this is a three-player game, but some of the cards say “remove this card for a 2 player game”. What other changes are involved for two players?

If I may .. there are minor changes, some cards are left out of the game (the ones which simulate Bosniak-Croat war) and there are some changes to the number of cards and how to track victory score. All to keep the game balanced. You basically play Bosniaks and Croats as one player (Bosniak-Croat alliance) vs Serb. For more details you can download the rulebook from Compass Games' site - the chapter "Two Player Game" is on pages 20-21. Cheers!

Hey Joe - around the 55:00 mark, you used SR for the Serbs. Weren't they also under Sanction that removes their ability to use SR?

Yes, initially it appears that we are going against the rules, however, card events override the regular rules. I should have stated that in the video. Because the Strategic Redeployment occurred as a result of a card event, it overrides the Sanctions prohibiting SR in the Foreign Attitude track. Cheers!

Hi! Serbian Round 3 advance into Bosanski Brod is illegal. They are under Sanctions and VRS Limited Offensive does not grant a special advance.

What is the effect of a unit having a 'highlighted' combat strength (e.g. on the Croat HV units)?

The different-colored Combat Factor is a reminder that those units (Croatian HV units) cannot attack Bosniak units.
