I don’t trust Rudy here because his card knowledge/understanding of the game, is antiquated. His instincts are thus (to use an ancient word he’d understand) suspect. I’d like to like this product, but the transformers are a slap in the testicles. Beautiful pieces of history, and shit that don’t belong, dressed as mythics

I actually pulled a Shattered Glass Foil Megatron from my collector's box on release! Didn't even realize what I had pulled until a friend told me that they are going for CRAZY money. Sold it to Card Kingdom a week later when they posted their buylist. $1,170 in store credit! Now they have come down a bit in price and I have since bought a Chains of Meph. with the store credit I had built up! Overall, it is a well-loved set and will do very well over the years. :)

I built a optimus prime human soldier edh deck. upgraded optimus to the shattered glass variant from a lucky pull. It is one of my favorite decks and it works rather well. I work the Transformers ride at universal, so pulling up to my local card shop in my uniform after work then playing my Optimus Prime deck is just for full flavor and fun.

@@BlightsteelNinja Mikaeus the Unhallowed is a very powerful build-around character for any non-Human black deck. Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet reanimates creatures your opponents have that die as zombies, and sacrifices vampires and zombies to power-up and enable graveyard shenanigans. Tinybones, Trinket Thief lets you draw cards each time your opponent discards (at the cost of 1 life) and can do a 10 damage stomp whenever their hand is empty. My favourite pure black commander for the graveyard theme is probably Erebos, God of the Dead. Indestructible, draws you cards (for a cost of 2 mana and 2 life) and prevents your opponents from gaining life. In the right deck he is really difficult to beat.

@@JusZard Yeah, they're from earlier sets. If you are only interested in cards from Brother's War main set, there are only two black commanders- Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor and Ashnod, Flesh Merchant. Gix is MUCH better as a commander as he can turn damage dealing into card advantage. Ashnod is a lot weaker.

Hasbro-Wizards should have done Transformers like they did for 40K as Commander decks. One it would have done what Hasbro- Wizards had wanted in getting people with outside interests a way to introduce MTG to them. Two it would have been even bigger than what 40K did in sales and interest. No transformers fan would buy packs to the cards in Brother's War. Instead, they would just go the secondary market instead if even that. It made no sense to put Transformers in with the Brother's War set.

There are some fun Transformers Commanders. (Not Soundwave, sadly.) They are cool to build a deck around, but I would prefer it if there were more Transformers-themed cards to build around. In terms of flavour, it's weird to have Megatron as your commander and summon zombies. Same problem I had with the Godzilla cards.

Personally I'm very happy that you get a transformer every pack it helped them not been hard to get while also their shattered versions are super hard to get which is the perfect way to do it, as fans can get the collection of their basic versions very easy and cheap. Which is something they failed to do with the Godzilla cards.

Hadn't seen a foil shattered glass Transformers card until I won a gift bundle for participating at an LGS MTGA tourney. The collector booster was blessed with the Slicer, immediately protected it. Hopefully I can sell that card at a nice price in case I ever have an emergency.

On the Llanowar Wastes that Rudy brings up to the camera, the planeswalker stamp is really off centre. When you can't even get the counterfeit protection aspects of the card right that is unacceptable.

I had a friend in a distant land in a distant time end yeah it’s distant and he used to wear one of those jackets that had the huge pouch pocket in the front with the zipper and he’d fit a six pack in there and he put all his burned out cigars and cigarettes in the pocket, rather than throwing him out cause he might have some left for later by the end of the night of partying. Thanks Rudy. It’s great except the transformers (“damn near worthless”) and art cards, the tokens and other junk in there is just off putting for me. They killed it for me. What you opened confirmed it. Wish you could price list them for us because otherwise “it feels like” a bust! All the foils were curled and hunched over in my boxes. I love your grit perseverance to rip open boxes but damn the sham/gamble.

This is a product where you collect the whole set, because the artifacts are so cool and the great artwork. Also, you never know which artifacts will be big in the future as the meta changes with new synergies, and then they shoot to the moon.

The problem with the Transformer cards is the art. It looks like it was taken from the 80's animated series. Maybe if they went for the same art they used in the Warhammer commander precons it would feel more like your playing Magic.

man the retro frame artifacts look so amazing, I love the schematic alts. The transformers cards clash so horribly, the art on those is so flat and cartoony in contrast. Not sure what they were thinking adding them into a main set instead of a secret lair. Its like square peg in round hole.

But i feel that they could have had some art that at least makes them look like art that would normally be on a magic card. Instead it looks like they just took screenshots directly from the cartoon and slapped them onto the card. They could have had some of the typical style of mtg art and at least give them an awesome presentation, like the godzilla cards in ikoria. If they just took screenshots of the oldschool godzilla kaiju monster movies and slapped them on the card it would look pretty cheesy wouldn't it?

Rudy - You're 1 for 4 on good boxes vs garbage on BRO collector's (Box 2 today was a winner). On that ratio (1-4), NOT worth US$230. On actually using Transformers: - My 8yo would be into those for casual decks. I like the cards, but not in BRO collectors packs BRO Set boxes much better value for money. DMR collectors is a completely different story, though! BTW - your patron got 1 portal, 3 Sylex - c'mon man! Box 2 was actually really good. 2 versions of Myrel, Mightstone/Weakstone (part of Urza meld), Portal to Phrexia - >Portal and Myrel were US$30-$40 last time I looked.
