I tried to install some SofSeals on my '84 Burb, and I was never able to get the doors to close well again. After a year of adjusting and slamming, I finally put the original seals back in. They're a bit worn, but at least I can close the doors again.

We do our own R&D here to determine what works and what doesn't. Our seals do not have that issue, however many of the seals on the market cause that exact problem.

I have a BMW that I’m trying to reinstall the door seals and came across your video. Apparently the seals are exact fit for the frame and all one large piece but I can’t seem to reinstall them without a major kink forming. It’s like they are too big. Would you recommend cutting them as you did in this video? The seals slide on the frame and hold the same as yours do. I’m trying to get ideas before I pay to get it done. I appreciate it.

More than likely they need to be trimmed like ours were. However, before doing that we would recommend contacting the retailer or manufacturer.

I just replaced my door seals today on my 84 but the doors won’t close right anymore, I got them from LMC Trucks, I thought I had put them In Wrong but looking at the old seals they got a different slimmer style

My 82 c10 had that weatherstrip and a different style of weatherstrip on the door itself but I can't find any info on this. Do you know anything about this?

This is not an original style of weatherstrip, so it makes sense that your would be different. We also carry the factory style of weatherseals for your truck. Check our website out at www.brotherstrucks.com

Thanks Dave, since i replaced my doors seals, i have some problems to close the doors properly. I've to hit very hard to close them. The problem seems to come from the front bottom angle of the door, the seal doesn't flatten correctly . Do you have any tips to fix that? Thanks

There are a few issues that can come from new seals, most importantly where did they come from? If you bought then from BROTHERS then call the guys in Customer Service and let's figure out what the problem is. If they didn't come from us, then there is a possibility the quality is the problem. That's why we do these videos, so we can test all the parts we sell and make sure they fit so you aren't the guinea pig.

@@beardedg500 There are many manufacturers of reproduction door seals, and if you got yours on ebay it's nearly impossible to determine who made them. Part of the reason we make these videos is to test out the fit and quality of our parts so we can confidently sell them to our customers. Additionally, we can easily offer technical advise based on our own first hand experience using the stuff we sell. Unfortunately, your ebay seller probably doesn't provide the extended customer service it sounds like you need in this case.

I know this reply is late but, depending on the age of the vehicle or use, the door's hinge pins may be own out. The door could also be misaligned from being leaned on.

Don't suggest cutting the seal! Compress rubber as you install - you may need to go around twice but the extra effort will give you a nice tight seal if and when the rubber shrinks. Install pushing together and then about 3/4 the way around place the tail end up against where you started and work back compressing seal as you go.

These seals have about 10" of overlap once installed correctly, you absolutely HAVE to cut the excess off or it's impossible to install them. What you are describing is exactly what Dave talks about in this video at the 2:00 mark, leaving extra when trimming. You definitely need that extra length so the seal continues to fit tight and "push back" into the corners as you and Dave have mentioned.

You must have used rubber from someone other than BROTHERS Truck Parts. That problem you are describing is very common with other suppliers door seals.
