Windows on both sides of my '86 F250 have been waiting for new channel and felt for awhile now. looking for the parts now, and will, hopefully, be doing the work before much longer. Never done this type of stuff before, so, at 67, hope I'm not too old to learn. lol

I can't thank you enough for doing this, and am an LMC customer for life - as you can tell by my weekly orders. Learned that silicone spray helped: at least on my 1981 Silverado, you really need to want those seals to slide down the channels. Great piece of advice to roll the window up and reach in to make sure the first side is set before attempting the other side, because the second side is definitely the harder of the two. Discovered that my original door panels didn't have places for the interior clips - they were riveted in at the factory (I assume). So my LMC version won't fit, sadly. Wish I hadn't drilled out the old rivets and removed the piece, but the solution is going to be to reattach the old piece and save the new piece for when I replace the door panels someday. The old ones on the Silverado package had a line of chrome trim at the top and the LMC versions don't, so I'm happy with the result for now.

You make it look so easy i tried soap alittle spray not more than 5inches in the rear ill try powder but it doesn't want to go I have an 1987 G 20 van guess I try with the top but I see 2 screws in the top is that for holding the up seal in then guess do the front first which I didn't try wish you were here lol great video thanks

I could not get the felt to slide down in channel like all these videos say do it! So, I moved to the other side of door where the window channel is bolted to door and removed the bolt so I could pull window away from channel and then pushed felt down with no problem. Is there a reason why no one suggests removing bolt on other side? Did i create an alignment problem or something by doing it this way?

I broke 2/4 door panels so far. Not your fault, but what I realized on the last one, is non destructively push the seal away from the door panel and towards the window, working on top of or as close to the clips as possible

Great videos as usual. Your videos are all awesome. I'm going to be doing this project. My truck is an 83 k10. Do you know if I can reassemble it using 1978 door panels and inside latch? I bought new door panels about 15 years ago for a 78 but the truck ended up being a parts truck when I found the frame cracked and twisted. So I have this 83 now. My door panels are in bad shape. Thanks much for your time and your expertise in these videos they help more than you know

We're not 100% sure, but if you hold 'em up to the old ones and they look close, they more than likely will swap. GM was really good at making things interchangeable!

No, you can remove the vents and rebuild them without removing the main glass.

Hello. Yesterday, I replaced the passenger side power window motor (acdelco) and it worked good until today when I replaced the window channel guide seal and now it struggles and won't go all the way up without me pushing it up. Did I do something wrong or does the seal need to break in or what?

More than likely the seal needs to break in, the motor and other mechanical parts need lube, your wiring is old and the motor isn't getting full voltage... OR it's a combination of some or all of these.

If you're asking about the seal in the vent, then yes you need to remove the vent to do the seal. If you're just talking about the seal (felt channel) around the roll-up glass then no, you do not have to remove the vent.

Can a one piece kit be used in a door that had 2 piece? my truck is an 86 c10 so I ordered the one piece kit like most websites say but when I pulled my seals they are 2 piece and have another clip in the top towards the vent window.

We recommend either a dry lubricant like graphite or some plain ol' baby powder. They should begin to loosen up pretty quickly with a little use.

I'm gonna get this kit. Do you have the window channel gasket? It's the thin rubber that goes between the metal channel and the glass at the bottom of the glass to hold it in place. I assume to keep it from rattling. LMC calls it "Glass setting rubber"

It's probably an adjustment that needs to be made to the lower attachment position of the vent window. Hard to troubleshoot without seeing it, but that would be a good place to start.
