“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:43-48 NKJV

Amen. It makes me happy that you can see through this nonsense. I think that the use of identity politics has caused more mental health destruction than anything else. It shrugs off all our deeply personal struggles we have as individuals, and attempts to redirect blame onto another oppressive group. I'm not saying there aren't social issues, because there is, and always will be. There will always be bad apples and the media will selectively focus on certain scenarios. Life will not always be fair, or were we promised it to be. This is a fallen world. So, how we respond to society is a testament to our relationship with God and Jesus Christ. Most people want to be left alone and prefer to get along. That's a fact. REAL racism (and other social issues) is not as rampant as they want us to believe, and if it weren't for the demonic media, we'd all be just fine, and truly enjoying each other's company, (even with and THROUGH cultural differences, which makes it all even MORE wonderful, in my opinion) and loving one another as Christ would have us doing so. Life can be as beautiful as we want, as long as we choose to receive that gift from God.

I used to hate them, but now I just feel a deep pity for them. They were so misguided like all people who give themselves over to hate. I feel sad that I held that hate in my heart, because hate is a poison that kills your soul and more addictive than the most addictive drug. Hate begets hate, and I pray that God takes the hate from all hearts. I ask God to keep hate from my heart. The Lord knows that I struggle with that sin, because I sat in it so long it became comfortable. With Christ, hate has no place in my heart any longer. I pray Christ extends that to anyone who struggles with hate, no matter why they embrace hate.

Pastor Mike, thank you, thank you, thank you for your sound biblical teaching! I have been for many years a progressive Christian after fomerly being an evangelical one. I have had struggles throughout my life with same-sex attraction and threw in the towel and resigned myself to it and followed that path. Your sincere, Godly and loving approach to teaching the truth even when it might hurt the hearers has touched my heart and allowed me to see my condition in reality knowing that I have not been enjoying my walk with Christ. I have surrendered my entire self to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. What really hit home with me was your discussion elsewhere in which you described how our thoughts are one thing and our actions another. Caving in to temptations leads to sin. I have not been able to avoid the thoughts so have allowed the enemy's accusations to clobber me for my imperfections. Now I realize God knows struggles and challenges each of us has and yet, despite them, can through His Spirit give us victory as we seek His face. Don't know if I have made much sense or not. But, I do know God is leading me out of my current progressive open and affirming church to a Bible believing church where the gospel message is not hindered and freedom found for all irrespective of our past. Sin is sin whether we are straight, gay, or transgender or otherwise. 🤗💕

To forgive us to show weakness and allow those who transgressed against you to get off without consequence.
@robertpreisser35473 жыл бұрын
@@theredmistiscoming609 //To forgive is to show weakness…// How? How is it weak to do what is hard? It is EASY to NOT forgive. That comes naturally. It is HARD to forgive because that does not come naturally. And so the weak person is the one who cannot overcome their base instincts and so cannot forgive. The one who is able to willfully choose to move past the hurt the person caused them is BY FAR a stronger person. //and allow those who transgressed against you to get off without consequence.// Again, how? What REAL consequence is the OTHER person suffering by YOU holding onto your own hurt and anger and pain? That doesn’t harm them in ANY way. If they really don’t care that they hurt you in the first place, do you think they care that you are still nursing a grudge against them, or that it is still eating you up inside? Thinking that your not forgiving a person is somehow hurting them in return is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die. It just doesn’t work. The only person who continues to be hurt is you, for as long as you continue to hold onto the hurt and pain and refuse to forgive. Now, to forgive does not mean you must immediately trust the person who hurt you. But it does mean you choose not to let that one-time pain continue to consume you, and to continue to let that one time deed define the relationship with that person forever. Look, have YOU ever hurt someone, even unintentionally? Have you ever wanted to ask someone else for forgiveness, either because you didn’t mean to hurt them, or more importantly because you did and now are truly sorry and want to make amends? If you want them to forgive you, why are you unwilling to forgive someone else? Jesus offers you forgiveness for every single thing you have ever done that hurt other people. People Jesus Himself loves deeply. Hurting anyone else hurts and angers Jesus. But He is still willing to forgive. If He is willing to forgive you for every hurt you have caused, but you are unwilling to forgive anyone else, then why should Jesus forgive you? More than that, is God weak? Or would you prefer God to never, ever let you off without consequence? Jesus said in Luke 6:37-38 “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

GOD'S Blessings to you, Sir. I am not familiar with progressive Christianity. I am a new child in Christ as of last month when I got baptized. YAY!!JESUS is King✝️ The Pastor to whom this message is addressing is angry, although she is far more hurt. Her prayer IMPO, is indicates a strong desire to connect to all, yet acceptance by many self ascribed Christians is not extended to her, much less the love she freely gives. She is in a lot of pain, and wants to become indifferent to the hate that she encounters on a regular basis. I am a 55 yr old woman of European descent, a military brat who was privileged to travel extensively, here and abroad. I understand the disappointment and anger I saw on your face when you were reciting her passage speaking on her explicit bias toward WP, when you are a purveyor of Love. Yes, she is wrong to categorize, though she's honest, which I feel is a good thing because now we are talking about it. You were correct when you said you don't hear whispered comments of "those people", primarily. because IMO, your personal strong moral code prohibits this blatant disregard of someone's humanity and people recognize it. I've lived in DC and NLR Arkansas, and observed a plethora of people from every walk of life because they fascinate me. I asked myself, "What perspective and circumstances got them here?" No one truly knows what others endure until they experience it, or they may be extremely empathic. No white person has any idea of what being black in America is like. None. Being a woman, I've no idea what its like to be a man, and from what I've learned, there are a lot of pressures and standard that I am grateful I didn't have to face. Being a man has many daily challenges. And vice versa. So,, I lived in DC and Suitland,MD, my roommates were a black couple, I lived in an all black neighborhood and worked at The Classics Supper Club where I might be the only white person amongst 900 black people. I lived in that area for a decade or so. Though I encountered some bigotry, it wasn't to the degree that BP ( blk pple) do and I knew I could just walk out the door at any time. Racism is about power, bigotry is vitriolic and violent at times, prejudice is a preconceived notion. People bandy racism around as a catch all. Its very specific. Details are important. A young white man darkened his skin and shaved his head and pass for black, with the intent to experience black life for a month, for better understanding. He said it was horrible. Blatantly disrespectful, staring, walking quickly to the opposite side of the street, he was followed all over stores, although middle aged white women are the most proliferate thieves in that setting. More than once being the target of cruel epithets. He said it was so detrimental to his psyche (my word. I don't remember the term he used), he was unable to withstand the daily assault and stopped one week later. Black people have to be on alert, hypervigilant. Referring back to the book, this is one thing she truly despised, as I do, the two faces that POC experience. Is this friend or foe? There is absolutely good reason for them to feel that way. Its horrific the often spontaneous vitriol and physical assault takes a huge toll. Its at work, out and about, barbecues, driving, walking down the street ad nauseum. A young black girl scout that was delivering cookies. The WP looked at her in disgust, telling her she didn't belong there, what was she doing here,....ad infinitum. It is is a daily assault that is unimaginable. The author needs loving-kindness and empathy. What I've listed is a grain of sand. Americans living Japan, out in the economy not on base, can now tell you what its like to face prejudice and bigotry on a daily basis, minus the running one over, claiming the victim jumped in front of his vehicle, so out of "fear" , he stopped his truck, got out and shot the young man writhing in pain on the road twice. The camera came in as he was calling 911 with these claims of fear, stating he was a police officer for a county. That young man had his life taken, his entire families lives are crushed and mangled, just like his broken body on the asphalt. In a real split second. The look on the deputy's face was twisted in hate, anger and disgust, then he saw he was being filmed. Judges taking the word of the officer in another case, OVER the video. White people get the benefit of the doubt (Jan 6th) but a 14 yr old black child in his own backyard holding only his cell phone, was not. Zimmerman, Rittenhouse, Winston Churchill etc. Go back to your country, they'll holler. Africa is a continent and most black Americans can't trace their family tree past Cleveland. They don't have a culture to cradle them. No recipes from a great-aunt Edna passed down with stories, Or where their ancestors arrived in America. History books merely portray blacks as servile, whereas white people are credited with everything, including what black people accomplished. Daniel Webster, of Webster dictionary fame, was black. Not according to the picture though, SMH. JESUS has never ever said "You're being too sensitive" which is actually an abusers catch phrase. I've always been a person fearful of prayer because I feel inadequate when I hear how fluent and poetic my siblings in christ are. I've always been nervous to pray and talk with god because I'm fearful of how I speak to him, and that while I want to love him, I don't always have him on my mind in my actions and am scared to ask for forgiveness. But this prayer has given me confidence. I feel like asking for god's love and mercy, and asking him how to show others god's love and lead me, is a good prayer, even if I say it in a couple of stuttered words. I'm somewhat glad I found this video for my own confidence, but I also feel sad for this women. I hope (and will probably pray) for healing in her life, forgiveness, and for her heart to be softened. My mom took a photo of their license plate after they hit my car with their door and refused to be mature about it. When I came out of target I heard them calling my mom and I “white bitches,” I’m not saying there isn’t racism against black people, I know there is, but people who claim that black people are the only victims of racism are ridiculous. I think a lot of blacks are just believing what they hear the media, educational systems, the president, Hollywood , Twitter and others say, unfortunately. I experienced racism as well when I was about 18. I got a job at the airport packaging food. It was my first full time job. The only whites people were me and my friend. It was very uncomfortable at first as the other workers stared us down with unhappy faces. I was naive and thought they would love me once they knew me. One of the super outgoing, sweet young girls came to talk to me after a few days. I really liked her. Before the week was over she told us we better get out of their for our own good as the rest of her coworkers hate whites. I was heartbroken. We took her seriously and never came back. I was hit head on in a parking lot by a black guy who was going to rob me but I had my dog in the car and my dog did not like this guy. My dad was also robbed at work several times by black people. My best friend’s daughter was held at gunpoint and robbed by black people. I never tagged all blacks people in a group. I reasoned it out in my head. Those areas where all of that happened where in our near a major city where it was predominantly black and lower income. I grew up and still live in a suburb that’s very close to the country. I’ve never had an issue in the suburbs with any black people hating my skin color or any other issues. We’re all friends. My family is mixed, no one has race problems out here. I steer clear of the inner city, it’s gang, drug and crime ridden. I blame no fathers in the house. It’s the main issue. I’m against gangs but understand why kids join them, unfortunately. What’s their alternative option? Get beat up and harassed, possibly killed? Who will protect them? Mom? We need to get at the heart of the matter and eliminate the desire for gangs. These kids need love, purpose and most of all, Jesus.

My issue with everything that has been going on is the automatic belief when anyone says anything. This destroying people, even people I don’t personally agree with, with just a statement and no accountability of proof is scary. As a child victim I personally don’t want sit in being a victim. (I know this was posted 2ish years ago. I hope things have gotten beter for you.) Back in '96-97, I was engaged to a Young Woman who had also been abused as a child. She embraced her victimhood to a dangerous degree. Using it as a club to beat those she felt did not give her her due (Including Myself) and as a Shield- 'You can't understand what I've been through. No one can.' One night in September of 1997, as we were laying in bed together and she was trying to get me to sleep with her, I was suddenly taken out of my Body and taken back to 1978, when she was 4 and witnessed her first molestation experience at the hands of her 12-year-old male cousin. Not only did I see it, I was 'tied' into her, and experienced it WITH her. I felt everything she felt. Her genuine curiosity, her anxiety, her fear, her pain and worst of all, worse by far, the emergence of feelings and sensations that should have lain dormant for years and years yet. And because they were brought out in that way, they were damaged, corrupted, in a way that never should have been. From my Fiancee's perspective, she was afraid I had died, as I spasmed, went completely limp, then cold. I stopped breathing, I didnt blink and my eyes had the 'flat' look we see in the dead. She said I was like that for maybe 2 minutes (it was longer for me, subjectively), when I came back to myself. I will never forget laying on the bed, with my head in her lap, staring up at her face, her beautiful adult face, and told her what had happened. She didn't cry, but huge burning tears fell from her eyes onto me. When I finished, she whispered, 'Where am I ever going to find another man like you?' Two months later, she left, calling me, 'The most abusive man I've ever known.' For years, I thought that God had given this experience because I was supposed to take that experience and learn how to be a better husband to her, and I had failed in that. As I continued to pray about it, one day I suddenly realized the event was not for me. It was for HER. And, she had realized that immediately. God was telling her that not only can others sympathize and empathize with her, but He understood what had happened to her and He understood it PERFECTLY. Sadly, last I had heard, she rejected that correction completely and had gone off into Occultism, Paganism, Bi-Sexuality and 'Mother Goddess' worship. That's a Tragedy, and 27 years later, I still pray for her. But if you can take anything out of this, never forget that our God is with us ALWAYS. He hurts with us, He grieves with us, He understands our struggles, better than we understand them ourselves and He is always willing to help us through those trials. The only one who can stop Him, is us. Again, I hope things are going better for you, and I hope this helped. Keep the Faith, Don't lose Hope, strive to live in Love.

Pastor Mike, thank you for sharing this video. I (as a black woman) am appalled by this "prayer." I have experienced many acts of racism in my life, but when I came to Christ for salvation, he replaced resentment with love, mercy and unity. These were true acts of hatred that happened to me, not "microaggresions" (such as being called the "N word" to my face at work during my college years). But as one who loves Scripture, never has it occurred to me that God would empower me to hate another human! God has given me so much grace to share love and truth toward specific people who have since called me racist names. My hope is that they will come to know the mercy of Christ. I am amazed that this is being passed off as Christianity and people are ACTUALLY reading it. Thank you for once again exposing heresy.

I can relate because my family has a long history of abuse on both sides due to grandparents fighting wars and having PTSD, other abuse that predators have caused, and drug and alcoholism. I'm also a descendent of a Native American tribe. I've been spending a long time trying to overcome this trauma and heal. So I can say with authority that, when you don't properly identify and actively work to heal from your trauma, you will inevitably project your trauma onto the entire world around you, making you feel unsafe. Why is racism so ok when it’s towards white people? I myself as a hispanic have experienced racism from WHITES AND BLACKS and my people have very much been racist towards whites and blacks as well, every race is racist towards another race and we have to stop hiding that. Ofc we need to change it but let’s stop acting as if it doesn’t happen, sadly i’ve experienced much more racism from black people than white people and nobody talks about that.. but as you said as well I forgive them whole heartedly and pray they turn their lives to Christ

Read the poem again, don't listen to mikes reading actually read it yourself and digest it. Keep in mind the five stages of grief as you do. 1) denial, 2) anger, 3) bargaining, 4) depression, 5) acceptance. During the first 3/4 of the prayer she jumps between 2,3, and 4. It's clearly framed in terms of "This is my will do it god". The last 1/4 however (the stage of acceptance) undoes "my will is this do it" by saying (and this next part is a word for word quote) "But I will trust in you my lord." that is the moment of acceptance when she says "okay not my will but thy will."

Regardless despite most likely hearing Horror stories told first hand from her ancestors and her own lived experience, she turned back to God at the end of her poem and asked him to correct her ways, to help her let go of the anger and hatred. Just as Jonah learned, it appears so did she.

What she needs is more love and we need to pray for her.

Absolutely. Satan's grip on her is so clear.

Agreed, she needs love and prayer, but she also needs the type of feedback Mike is providing here.

What she needs is to repent of her hate. All the love in the world directed her way won't do squat as long as she is unwilling to submit her heart to Jesus.

I have been a born again Christian since 1978 and have been a part of several different denominations. Throughout the decades, I have NEVER ONE TIME heard anyone use the N word in any church, in or out of the church building. Nor have I ever used it, it’s deplorable. I do regularly hear the phrase “Jew you down” in reference to price bargaining; I don’t care for it, but I also recognize I have never detected any malice in those saying it; it’s an expression they didn’t even register as offensive. Blacks are not the only ones who must seek to have a thick skin and a tender heart, we all offend one another.

I just wanted to say, the portion around 27 minutes where you're talking about Job and the psalmists and the correct way to pour out your heart to God--I had not realized until today that I have addressed God in some of the very ways that this author does. Certainly not the same topic, but with the mindset of "God's big enough to handle it, anything I say is fine." Your speaking of Job's repentance made me hear the conviction of the Holy Spirit on this matter, and I might never have recognized it. So thank you for this entire video, but especially thank you for that portion.

I find that a lot of these Critical Race Theorist "Christians" like to invoke the spirit of ancestors and people of the past because many other people who have this CRT worldview do it. Many of them practice African religions (ex. Yoruba) that have a significant focus on ancestral worship. That last part of the prayer seems to be a lot of that kind of thing to me, or at least that's what it reminded me of when I read it a couple of weeks ago on Twitter. Thanks for the video, Mike. I'm always glad to hear your commentary on these cultural issues through a truly Biblical framework.

I saw this book in the Religion section of my Barnes and Nobles a few years ago. Luckily a garbage can was located right next to the book shelf.

I am Native Indigenous Dakota and I have dealt with ppl who are racist. Ppl who have worked years within the same congregation as servants, decades. I never have prayed to hate them or anyone else. I have been deeply hurt, angry, confused however I have never prayed to hate. I now pray for her being lost to the evil twist that satan has presented her. I could let my spirit be evil and ugly against her, that will be what satan wants. I can’t leave Yahweh for self satisfaction.I will not sin in my flesh just for the fleshes sake.

If that is what you took away from that then you need to actually read the prayer (not just look at the words in isolation but read). The transition of the fifth paragraph from the end to the fourth paragraph from the end completely flips the narrative of the prayer on its head. The prayer starts off with a clear "My will be done" but changes to "I was hurt which caused me to feel this way. But god thy will be done. I will trust in you my Lord". I find it really gross how people are going out of the way to completely ignore the last quarter of the prayer because it lets them spin a narrative they want to believe. Who preserved her love? Against who was it preserved? For who was her love preserved? What is her response her love being preserved? If we just do no critical analysis at all and read only what we want we can paint her as a mean racist who wants to fight racism with racism. That narrative is a lie and it is gross.

@@alananimus9145 I'm going to take a wild guess you're not a Believer..that you're going by your understanding..if you could study, or even go to the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek you might have a better understanding of it *=)* better yet, if you don't want to do any of those things, message Mike on his pinned post..go straight to the source explaining the breakdown..show him your evidence and why he's wrong..if you're 100% secure in your answer, then plead your case to the one debating it..shouldn't be that hard since you're correct, right? *=)*

@@thecassandraeffectvsperilo6754 so... i do read greek and hebrew as well as latin. My degrees are in theology and philosophy. It's not that hard. This isn't hidden information, apologists don't platform interesting questions because they know how batshit they look. Who wants to defend Yahweh fighting a dragon, or talking animal's (snake and donkey). It's about controlling the narrative for them. Why do you think he doesn't reach out to her.

@@alananimus9145 well that's great because that is also what Mike's studied *=)* so if you're correct then it shouldn't be a big deal to address it directly to the debater, no? It's one thing for her to have these thoughts in her heart (and to wrestle with them), but it's another thing to instruct and encourage others in this kind of thinking.

Your reference to 2 Peter 3:16 was spot on! I've heard it said, "you can make the Bible say what you want if you try hard enough!" That seems to be the case with the good doctor here...
