Any tips on how you get such a good heart shape?

You can use a stencil if your having trouble drawing out a good one! And also try folding it on just the front of the shirt, less fabric will help you be more precise

I honestly find stitching to be wayy harder than pleating, you could try just putting the heart on one side? Less fabric might help u fold it more precisely

Why do you cut some string and untie others?

The sinew (the brown string around the heart) is tied so tightly that i couldn’t get scissors in there . Thats how it creates the white line! The rest is kite string
