I feel blessed that I would talk often with Phil Nichols, the production manager at Browning. After the company went out of business, he bought the parts and continued to make Mark 4A radios until chassis were depleted. I have always thought the Mark III with AM transmitter was the best they ever made. The SSB was questionable but that is open for debate. So glad you a guys have these radios and know what your are talking about. Going to look at your offerings. Thank you. Dave

Nice. I had one back in the 70's. Worked flawlessly for a couple years. Tubes kept my pizza warm too.🍕🍕

A friend had one too. He had the cover off, maybe tuning the SWR? He touched something while transmitting and got a shock that threw him across the room. fwir.

My conversations with Phil Nichols started in the the early 80s and lasted until the late 90s. From that point forward he was hard to contact and I believe he just succumbed to being a late aged talented radio engineer. He did pass. From our conversations, Browning had the same work ethic of Collins Radio. They strived to be the best. But CB Radio went bust in 1977/78. They just lost out to all the Japan produced radios. The one thing I could never get a straight answer about was the Browning-Tram connection. Both in New Hampshire. No one connected with either company would ever comment. It seemed someone left Browning and started Tram. ? Both companies were just a few miles from each other. Both became defunct for the same reasons. The CB Radio boom. In the end they both offered Japan made radios. Browning still made tube only base radios until the end.

@@davidsharp3110 Browning and Tram were the premier cb radios. The whole hobby died for a while. Fortunately it’s on a big come back. I have a bunch of these brownings and trams and compared to there aftercessors there is no comparison. I love brownings and trams and at this moment have 5 sets that will be for sale when I get them running to my specs. I love there is people that appreciate the quality of these rigs. A quick question if I may? Do you have a Browning MK 3 AM transmitter you would like to sell? Thanks again for the video.
