The last missions where actually planned to be much more than we got, burns give what sounds like a throwaway line "here’s a map to where I buried nuclear waste all over Springfield" the plan was for the last mission to be this epic road trip across all the different levels but the GameCube had insufficient system memory to do so meaning everything got scrapped and we got screwed.

It was less a lack of memory (since realistically they could have just had loading screens and stuff between levels.) It was that the last mission was rushed due to deadlines for release so the map was cut in half to make workload for environment artists easier. They mentioned in interviews that this is why in the final level, the interior of the Power Plant and the Rich neighborhood were blocked off because they didn't have time to Halloween-ify the whole map. The last mission being rushed would probably explain why the last four missions are all pretty much the same thing just with different vehicles. This would also explain why they *didn't* just do loading screens between the levels, because they would have had to deck out all three levels in the same Halloween aesthetic as the last level, (and given they didn't even have enough time to fully deck out the final level as it was, well...) The GameCube's smaller disk could have potentially caused issues (though they could have easily just made it a two disk game if that was the case,) but even if they did that (or just skipped on the GameCube entirely,) the game wouldn't have been any different since they still didn't have the time to not only combine all three maps, on top of revamp them to match the final level aesthetic.

Great Video it still holds up I remember watching this series in late 2018 I believe for some reason I stopped watching it about half way through this video part 3 so I came back to it a few days ago to complete watching it now I have finished watching it. you are one of my favorites and will always be one of my favorites. Like everyone else, as a kid I always thought the last mission in this game was impossibly hard. Then I picked it up again a couple years ago and beat it on the third try. I think the difficulty of the whole game is just... more calibrated for adults.

The last mission doesn't seem hard, the main problem is him just crashing anchored objects or just failing to get it in the correct spot. But really they give you ample time and it's much more lenient than what I remember playing a decade ago.

We had this game at my after school club when I was in primary school (ages 4/5 to 10/11), and nobody at the place could beat the last level, in all the 4 years I went to after school club. One day when I was 10, this older sibling of one of the kids comes in and beats the last level first try while waiting for his mum. I put it up him being older than us, but looking back he must have been a fucking video game deity.

honestly this playthrough is the definition of insanity with ray still taking barely any shortcuts and still hitting everything lol. idk why some of the chat think that this game is somehow easier as a kid. like no its probably cus of the years of other similar games u played that u apply their logic to a much older game i literally beat this game as a kid and as an adult. from what im seeing, if ray is a guideline for how other people would play, then people overthink at the wrong times and dont think enough at the wrong times. like who the hell tries to collect coins mid timed mission and then immediately do some kind of mental gymnastics into thinking it was very little time taken to do that. and that armored truck mission was so easy when u literally think just a few seconds about pushing it into other things rather than slamming it with the obvious weak car. also there must be shit blocking ray's screen half the time or he needs better glasses with how much shit he misses

Few things I've learnt about hit & run thanks to Ray - the game apparently has cheats, I never saw them, I have never seen the nuclear waste explode, and I 100%ed this game multiple times for the fun of it, because it's a fun, easy game, I never knew people had difficulty with it... Although I did explore the maps and kick all the people until the cops showed up, stood in inaccessible areas, had them explode (which gives you coins) So I never had to grind and thanks to exploring knew all the shortcuts, granted if you simply stay on the right hand side of the road you'll never collide with random vehicles. If there wasn't this many people saying "oh it's so unfair" I'd have said people were trolling, this was definitely one of the best driving games for the time.
