I believe you're thinking of the any% run, as that category skips a major chunk of the missions. The all story missions category (the main one) completes the mission but uses a different route instead of the intented one which allows you to get coins for the coin route (at least I think I haven't run the game in about a year).

The fact that this is all after him complaining about the game being hard, then not being able to see the GIANT HOLE in the ship and just even trying to look around for a way in, him going up the ramp and just driving right past it when he's been up there before, so he knows it would send him back off the boat, then the mix of making the jumps and not making the jumps, and finally SCREAMING for Bart, missing the first input to talk to him, and then screaming AGAIN and finally getting that catharsis.
