I am ready to eat crow VERY publicly. Though I live in Ohio now, I am an Oklahoma native (Tulsa) and a big OU fan. I watched Baker Mayfield throughout his college career. I thought he was obviously a great college QB, but I did not think his game would play in the NFL, or his attitude. When the Browns drafted him, I thought: "Here we go again. Another costly draft mistake by the Browns." Holy cow, I could not have been more wrong! Just to see how he plays and how his teammates react to him. The entire franchise got a HUGE boost when Mayfield took over at QB. Barring injury, this guy is a future Super Bowl champion and HOF QB. As a lifelong Browns fan, crow has never tasted so delicious. I remember that night at our draft party. I think I was the only one on board with taking Baker with that first pick. I will admit that I wanted Chubb at #4 but Ward was a position of need. Every time I get together with my friends I still bring up the fact that I was about the only individual in the room that wanted Baker. I think fans are conditioned to disfavor shorter QB's regardless of talent. My reaction was mixed after this pick, but I think all of the top QB prospects were flawed. Herbstreit called it perfectly when he said that Mayfield would fit in perfectly in Cleveland. Our city loves his swag. He is like Manziell but with more talent and work ethic.
