I like how you keep things simple and your a fish catching machine.after watching your vidio catching fish on the rusty brown version i have to know what thread you use on since i have a few rusty brown threads they all differ in color.

Really nice job here Chuck. Mesmerizing to be honest. Well tied, explained, and good music choice. To anyone watching, I can attest this fly works! Watched it pick off fish on the Little J yesterday!

@@Brownsylvania I ended up doing this one and using a layer of uv resin before tying the wing on. I have not tried it yet but hopefully it will work well.

Awesome! That'll definitely just make the fly much more durable and even add a little shine to it. I'm sure it'll work out great for you!

You do a great job with your tying videos. Well explained and put together. This is like a simpler version of the Barr Baetis emerger to me. I need to try this one! Thanks!

Thin to win. I have always been a fan of the WD-40 but I really like this take on a baetis nymph. The under-appreciated and likely most abundant mayfly in PA waters. Great pattern

Thanks for the "how to" for this pattern. I like this pattern, it has some things going on like the collar and case but it is a quick tie.

It would be interesting if you would go ahead and do some stream testing of this pattern vs a euro attractor (blowtorch, red dart, etc) on your local waters. Part of me wants to believe this would outperform given its baetis-like coloration-- but I wonder.

Love this tie! See any pros or cons of using a jig shank instead?
@Brownsylvania
@Brownsylvania 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Nope, not at all. The only reason I tie it on the curved caddis hook is because that's how it was tied when I found it in that fly box and I like the curved look for this pattern. I'm sure it would work just as well on a jig hook.

I suspect that the fly you found started off life as a WD-50 and then either got chewed on and put back in the box or just fell apart a bit. Basically the same fly as you have here, but an untrimmed tail and a pearl or opal tinsel flashback over the thorax.
@Brownsylvania
@Brownsylvania 3 жыл бұрын
No it was clearly a separate pattern, but very similar I agree.

Any reason behind using the slotted bead on a non-jig hook?
@Brownsylvania
@Brownsylvania 3 жыл бұрын
Nope. Just don't want to have to keep tabs on another bead type and store them separately. It's just easier to stock one bead type in my opinion.

I have not for this pattern. I think just for the sole reason that it's beauty is its simplicity.
