Great video Bryan. I use this pattern a lot down here, and it is probably the one that has caught the most fish. I use pretty much the same materials, including the caddis hooks and bead heads. If you tie up some streamers, that would be very cool. Thanks much!
@WhiteDogTrailCompany4 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike! I have a video planned for a streamer I tie specifically for small stream wild trout. It is a little more complicated because of the trailer hook but it might be the next fly tying video. I'm actually out of them and need some more so we'll see if I can get to it anytime soon. I have 2 small stream videos in queue that I need to get to including a great trip from today exploring a mountain stream in Vermont.

Thanks Jason. I tie flies out of necessity! That way I can tie exactly how I use them and can adapt for the water I fish. I haven't bass fished in a while but I used to do a ton of it. I have so many plans and not nearly enough time!!!

YES! I have been planning on doing more soft hackles... to be honest I don't tie them often but they add a lot of movement and are great in summer when waters are lower and bugs are moving around in the water! Thanks for the suggestion!

I actually tied up a dozen of your sexi Stonefly pattern with those cool legs and had a ball hooking many smallies on them! Would the clone technique work for legs, or do you not want the legs going back all the way over the back to the start of the body?
@WhiteDogTrailCompany2 жыл бұрын
I'm not familiar with the clone technique but I'll look it up later. With a caddis you typically only have legs in the dark part of the larva so I make the green body more clean and the dark head a little messy.
@DownstreamDownrange4 жыл бұрын
Awesome pattern man! I have some similar but I want to tie some of these! No worries on giveaway you can send them off to another lucky subscriber, but maybe when we fish together next time we can do a swap ! Tight lines man

Definitely! I love doing fly swaps! In fact 2 of my best patterns came from another friend and then I ended up tweaking them to make them the way I like. I actually did a fly swap with someone from the UK this year which was really cool! He was going to target grayling with them!

Would love to know what river and fish each tie is tied for
@WhiteDogTrailCompany2 жыл бұрын
To be honest, these flies are pretty universal! Go to your favorite creeks/rivers and flip rocks and see what lives in the water. You'll find an assortment of nymphs/larva living on the rocks. If you see more small nymphs than bigger ones, use a smaller nymph... if you see the green wormlike ones then try this caddis larva.. if you see a lot of big nymphs then try something like the sexi stone!
@nathanielchoate692 жыл бұрын
Do you fish this mainly as a tag fly or a point fly?
@WhiteDogTrailCompany2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the situation. If I'm fishing bigger, deeper water it'll probably be a dropper because I want a heavier fly on point, but in lower water conditions where I don't need a heavier point fly I can put it on as the point fly.

@WhiteDogTrailCompany4 жыл бұрын
There are false rumors every year... people having fun messing with people. There have been no credible reports of fish in the river. Follow the DSR for real reports.. or Whitakers Fly Shop. The first legit fish is often reported by the DSR. From the sounds of real reports from the lake I think people are skeptical of a good run. It sounds like charter fishermen are not doing well at all... when they're targeting lake trout and not salmon you know the salmon fishing isn't good. You never know... either they'll show up or they won't. And we won't know until they do. :)
