From Rockford Illinois. Had played since 14 years old and gigged for about 4 years in there until the band I was in fell apart. After tasting the stage and realizing it was over I turned away from playing and practice. Sending a thanks for the inspiration to pick the bass back up and rekindle my commitment to the thing that melts all the bullshit away. An 8 year hiatus is over and while I regret losing all that time to work and improve, it feels so good to be in love again!

Studies have shown that more neurons are fired in the brain during teaching then during learning, In other words, You dont truly have a grasp of a concept until you can teach it to someone. (teaching embeds knowledge) Your methods prove that you have a firm grasp of the concepts you teach. Because of that, Im able to learn from you when many others on youTube leave me dazed and confused lol. You are an excellent teacher! Keep breaking it down to a five year old level because that helps me the most! Your playing is next level and so is your ability to share what you know. Keep it up! I wish you had 10,000,000 subscribers!!

Hi Rich! I've dedicated my Sundays to en(Rich)ing my bass vocabulary, and spend most of my Sundays here when time allows. I can't say with honesty that I get every Sunday in, but today I got a couple hours to explore your videos. This particular lesson was a struggle when I first watched. I lack dexterity in my left pinky and ring finger separation, and this exercise is a monster. More so with my brain trying to get the descending lines down, and the string skipping with the two fingers. I finally got comfortable with it, but haven't attempted the minor scale part. I just wanted to say thanks for the lesson, and thanks for helping me to improve. I so appreciate it! Peace.

Wow. Learn the sound of the shape...Rich, I have done this for YEARS without really being able to "put a name" on that skill! I can't contribute $ this very moment but I'll jump in soon...your teaching is exciting my musical brain. My goal this year is to play more, play better, and learn more at age 60 than I have ever in my life!
