I have a 6 string, which I'm using to learn bass. It seems daunting trying to master the fretboard, and know each note by heart. Not to mention playing songs by ear or creating your own lines.

So dumb question - what do scales have to do with learning songs?
@SeniorFeliz2 күн бұрын
But truth be told I gave up on the peptonics a long time ago and I kinda stick to the modes, because I used to think the pentatonic was the end all be all scale that would fit over everything and 1 day I played it over a certain chord progression and it didn't sound good, and I was like ugh. No good. So now I stick to the modes. I play the minor third over the major I play the miner 7 flat 5 over the myxolidian or 5 chord. I play the major one over the minor 6 etc. Etc😊
@SeniorFelizКүн бұрын
All I'm saying is I have to watch where I play It. Because I don't wanna make that mistake again. But I think you might have sparked interest in the pentatonic, again.

I definitely enjoyed the video. And I'm watching it at work. Don't tell. Anybody can't wait 2 get home and 2 try it, but I'm sure I'll i'll be able to play It.😊

I'm here because I'm considering getting a bass and have never played before. This to me now looks very realistic because the instructionals are getting better and better. This one is a very good one so I liked and subscribed and will watch more.

You are a blessing! Over the past week I’ve been extremely stressed trying to find a way to start actually enjoying and learning about this amazing instrument. You showed me how, I enjoy every moment I practice now. I look forward to your presence in my days. I look up to you, your articulation of concepts is smooth, calm, and seamless with just the right amount of groove! I struggle with comparison of myself to other bassists and judgments about where I’m at in my musical journey. I was wondering if this is something you have dealt with. I would be extremely grateful if you could speak to the hardships that came along with learning the instrument in a reply or maybe even a video. You’ve seriously touched my heart with the way you teach. Walk in harmony my man. Big ups!

Thank you Rich for sharing! Those upper octave bass fill at the right moment get me a stank face from the audience everytime! From your experience, can you give us some examples on when an upper octave bass fill will be appropriate when playing with a drummer ? Since in video you often play alone so it got me curious
