This pedal has been a huge improvement to my studio rig, but it's admittedly complicated and the documentation is bad, but I was able to find official videos / documents that show how it works. How it works: The dry / wet knobs when going mono in and stereo out are independent volume controls for the left and right outputs when using 1 overdub. This means the left is dry volume and the right is wet volume. When in 2 overdubs (total of 3 guitars) it's a mid side setup with the dry / wet knobs working as mid / side volume. With 3 overdubs (4 guitars total) it's quad tracked with original signal and an overdub on the left and then 2 overdubs on the right. How I connect it: I have the mimiq connected to my patchbay essentially like outboard gear, with a mono in and a stereo output (you can use 2 seperate balanced outputs or just use a splitter to get the L/R signal from the balanced output, which I do the latter). At the very end of my analogue amp signal chain before going into my interface, I patch the mono signal into the mimiq, then take the dual stereo outputs from the mimiq and record into 2 inputs on my audio interface. This is my permanent studio rig for recording guitars. Here's the different ways you can use it really effectively: 1) Mono input last in the chain (after cab sim plugin / amp attenuator line signal / etc) with stereo out into audio interface for recording. This let's you automatically double track your recordings with a well-tracked double take. It turns out to be really useful for metal guitars where you don't want to play perfectly to a click track but still need to double track your guitars for wideness. I use this in all of my demo tracks etc and it's a huge time save relative to double tracking: you get 1 good take and you're final recording ready. 2) Mono input as a reamp from audio interface into stereo out (both stereo cables plugged in), but ONLY recording the wet side of the stereo out into your DAW. This will allow you to create a double track of an existing recording by reamping into the mimiq and only recording the wet side; turn the wet volume all the way up and the dry signal all the way down, and you're left with a perfectly double tracked mono signal coming out of the right / wet output. 3) Mono in / stereo out signal duplicator: Note that when the pedal is turned off (essentially true bypass) it straight up duplicates your mono signal into dual mono. This can be really useful when a/b testing the mimiq because if you turn the pedal off you can compare a dual mono identical signal's width directly to the a/b mimiq'd double track. This pedal is bad ass and does a great job making a really convincing double track; it's admittedly a tad bit phase-ey but tbh it's almost inaudible in a mix if you truly check side by side with a real double track. Really wish they would update their documentation and market the pedal better as it's an incredible studio tool. I would love to see a real plugin emulation of this, as you could just put it last in the chain on any mono guitar rig and every single 1 take recording in the digital world would be double tracked by default.

Guitar > Mono input mimiq > Left out mimiq > Channel 1 Audio Interface > Amp sim 1 > pan 100% left. Right out mimiq > Channel 2 Audio Interface > Amp sim 2 > pan 100% right Amp sim 1 and 2 have the same settings. Both "effect" and "dry" knobs are 100%. Tight knob at ~9 o'clock. Dubs at 1 When recording bass, the "tight" knob is about 7 o'clock. Works great.

I do own one. I used to use it after preamp/fx section of my ampless board right before ir loaders with power amp simulation. The basic rule i learned, the cleaner signal you feed to this pedal the better sound you get. Now it collects dust on shelf since the band got second guitarist, may be in the future we will go to both guitars in stereo and i will return this thing into my setup.

Hi there--- thanks for the video... The tightness knob works the other way round... turned clockwise the sound becomes more loose... anti-clockwise it's very tight... both guitars sound almost at the same time, under 30ms....

It really doesn't take much to understand how it works. You're presenting a situation like they're lying. It's all explained properly though. 2 dubs create 2 extra tracks with the original in the middle, everything else is panned evenly left and right evenly. You could record and listen to the left and right channels instead of acting confused.

No offense, but you're totally misunderstanding how to use this pedal. I'd suggest that you watch the demo by Plague Scythe Studio for an excellent explanation of how to use the pedal. You do NOT need to feed a stereo signal into it, just plug your guitar into the mono input. But you are right about it being useless in a mono rig. You need a stereo rig for this to be worth using. I don't think that TC Electronic has said it's good for a mono rig, that's why it's a stereo pedal. I own the stereo one that you demo in this video,and I really like it.

My review totally showed that a stereo singnal as an input is not necessary and that you should use a mono signal. I just showed different combinations.

I wonder how it would sound with the mimiq splitting into two different distortion pedals in parallel then joining back into a single signal. Like if you have an amp with two inputs.

I'm wondering why the mini is so bad. Apparently it's all mono and only allows one dub, but if you used it with a splitter and then put the dry signal to zero like you suggested to use the stereo version based on its manual's description, it should do the same thing, no? And since the additional dubs are not great sounding, I don't think you'd lose much.
@DomeNightbearer

the problem of the mini is its mono mode and the fact, that you lose volume. I don't know why they were build this way, but it's no good

why dry signal is not exactly the same like on the input point? Did you compare dry full when turn down effect pot?. the signal is colored, compare with TC corona chorus dry is exactly the same when you turned off effect.. Idea of pedal in stereo is great but sound suck. the pedal kills sound of all my overdrive pedals

It’s strange when I use the guitar into my aby splitter then into the Mimiq left & right, then one out to the 6505+ input, and one out to the DSL input. A different overdrive after each Mimiq output it sounds great. But when in the effects loop, one side in the 6505+ & the other side in the DSL fx loop, it sounds like complete ass. Also the master on one amp seemingly is controlled by the other. If I switch the inputs around the same issue now with the other amps volume. 🤷‍♂️ It’s like the stereo ins in front of the amp works, but then when in the loop (in front of my other stereo pedals,) does something weird with the volume, eg like when you slave an amp, but I’m not doing that. Also I run a stage bug sb-6 at the end of the stereo output chain to fix phase and ground loop issues.

Used it from the output of the preamp into a stereo poweramp running two 4*12 cabs; so setup 3 and expected a mega-stadium-super-stereo-sound. The only thing I got was a mega disappointment. Too much fx from the pedal made my sound metallic and it doesn't imitate a 2nd guitarist, not even the most intoxicated one. I like the TC stuff but this one? Nah. Thnx for the vid!
