Home Free covers this song amazingly... with their voices.. I'm a child of the 80's.. loved my Hair Bands.. but in the 90's.. this was the stuff.. Home Free with no instruments.. kills this song. Loved Boyz 2 Men back in the day.. damn I'm old.. lol

These guys do an amazing job of this song! They can do any genre including R&B. Rob's voice has so much feeling & soul in it. Austin adding his higher tones, Chance is holding down the bass in the back, Tim adding some deeper bass notes & Adam with his fabulous vocal percussion. These guys are my favorite a cappella group out there. Shawn Stockman from Boyz II Men was one of the judges on the "Sing Off" that Home Free won & he was a big fan of these guys from the start. I'm sure he loved their version of this song.

Wow, first off, we're amazed you know all their names and what each of them does-that’s some next-level Home Free fandom right there! And you’re spot on, these guys could probably harmonize the instructions on a microwave dinner and make it a hit. Shawn Stockman must’ve been sitting there like, ‘Yep, they’re stealing the show and my heart-again.’ Home Free really is like the Justice League of a cappella-each one bringing their superpower, from Rob’s soul to Adam’s mind-blowing beatboxing. Total legends!

Home Free are an a cappella group so they use no instruments. They are all tremendous singers and 3 of them are songwriters as well. When they were on the NBC show the Sing Off (they won in 2013) Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men was a judge and he loved them. I thought they were so good. They sing all genres of music. Try Helplessly Hoping, Brothers in Arms, Butts Medley (songs all about Butts), Listen to the Music to hear great harmonies, great beatboxing, silliness and more. They can make you laugh or cry. Amazing group!!! Good one! Carla you might enjoy Playing With Fire (an original), it’s sexy. Enjoy!!!

Yes, and Shawn especially loved Austin's Voice. (far right, reddish beard, brown shoulders and sleeves). Shawn said that Austin "isn't your typical white boy singer, goes all in." meaning he's got soul and can sang.

I grew up listening to Boyz II Men’s version so when I saw this band’s cover, I had to check HF just to see who had the nerve to do this. I became a Home Fry (HF fan). I was just amazed there were no instruments and then went through their catalog & found all genres. 💜💜💜

Right?! When you grow up with Boyz II Men, the bar is *high*. I was skeptical too-like, 'Who dares?!' But then Home Free hit those harmonies, and I was like, 'Okay, they came prepared.' And finding out it’s all a cappella? Game over. Welcome to the Home Fry family-grab some ranch, we’ve got all the genres to dip into! 💜💜💜

Genre? They can do just about everything. When they competed on The Sing Off, they were persuaded to go in a country direction. Since there wasn't a Country Acapella band in existence, they followed that lead. But Rob (the big guy with glasses and beard) can also sing opera. He and Austin (the one with the highest voice) have a video singing opera together. The Home Free Rabbit Hole is a deep one, but there is always a soft landing because there are so many of us down here checking it out.

Wow, thank you for sharing this! It’s amazing how versatile Home Free is - being able to do everything from country to opera is such a testament to their talent. I didn’t know Rob and Austin had a video singing opera together; that’s definitely going on my must-watch list! And I love how you described the “Home Free Rabbit Hole” - sounds like a place I’d enjoy exploring, especially with such a supportive community down there. 😊 Thanks again for the insight!

And...more folks fall down the rabbit hole. You are so doomed. We’ll save you chairs. You’re about to be buried in Home Fries. Brace yourself. Home Free is the only country a capella group out there, but they can - and do - sing every genre. And they have no lead singer. Every one of these men can take the lead, and they pick the lead for each song by who does it the most justice. During quarantine, they kept all us Home Fries sane by dropping new videos every couple of weeks while they were scattered across the country. God bless ‘em. All the men can beat box, but Adam Rupp is in a league of his own. He’s a world-class vocal percussionist and there’re good reasons he’s called a “Freak of Nature” and “the man who swallowed a drum kit.” For more of Adam’s incredible beat boxing, check out Sea Shanty medley (the man makes castanets, for Pete’s sake), his no-monica solo on Working For A Living and Ain’t Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up (that video is on Facebook), Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer (sleigh bells? seriously?) or his drum solos. For more of Tim’s seismic basso profundo, listen to Brothers In Arms, Misty Mountains (his collaboration with Peter Hollens), Folsom Prison Blues, or Ring Of Fire (the Sing Off version). This man’s range is incredible. You won’t want to miss his 5-octave run in 5 seconds in “Do You Hear What I Hear?” Tim also has a solo channel which you can view at www.timfoustmusic.com For Chance’s smooth baritone/bass, check out Skull & Bones, Down to the Honky Tonk, Brothers In Arms, Cover Me Up, I Can’t Outrun You, and Folsom Prison Blues. (Awesome... a basso profundo and a baritone/bass in the same group.) FYI, Chance is singing (throat singing) the jaw harp sounds - without the jaw harp - in Man Of Constant Sorrow. If you enjoy sea shanties, you must check out Skull and Bones, the official video.. The folks at Ubisoft heard Home Free’s Sea Shanty Medley, and contacted them to write a shanty for their upcoming video game of the same name. Chance has a particular fondness for shanties, so this was right up his alley. Chance was formerly a member of Street Corner Symphony from 2010 - 2016 before joining Home Free in 2016 after the departure of co-founder Chris Rupp. You can find his solo work and collaborations at www.theadamchance.com For Rob’s soulful tenor, check out End of the Road, Blue Ain’t Your Color, or Bless The Broken Road. (Blue-eyed soul is in good hands with The Beard.) One Home Fry has described him as the vocal equivalent of a Swiss Army knife because of his versatility. Just wait until you hear him whistle! Rob and his friend Buegs host a podcast called “The Avid Indoorsmen” where they review movies, etc. You’ll find Buegs’ cameo in the Home Free video “The Butts Remix.” He’s wearing overalls. Don’t worry - you can’t miss him. You can check out their podcast at www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-avid-indoorsmen--3265024 For Austin’s soaring tenor, check out Crazy, Moonshine, When A Man Loves a Woman, or Bring Him Home. (But bolt down your chair ‘cause he’ll sing you right out of it.) Austin left HF in June 2024. He’s newly married, and hasn’t been at home for Christmas in ten years due to Home Free’s heavy touring schedule. There are hundreds of videos with him, though, so you’ll still run into his work. You can also check out his solo work at www.austinbrownmusic.com Adam Bell-Bastien stepped into Austin’s tenor spot in June 2024. He debuted at the Grand Ole Opry with the Home Free men on June 22, 2024. He’s a fine addition to the band. Now that we’ve had a chance to hear him, this man’s tenor is smooth as glass. Check out his performance on I Still Believe In You, Something To Talk About, and Let Me Come Home. So, yeah. Three of the five members of Home Free are named Adam. You’ll hear them referred to as “Chance,” “Bastien,” and “Rupp.” If they’re just using the name Adam, they’re talking about Adam Rupp, vocal percussionist extraordinaire. For their humor, check out Butts Remix, Working For A Living, Life Is A Highway, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Brother, and Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget (The older video. Tim wrote the worst country song he could think of, and it remains one of their most requested.) A word about “Brother” - if you want to hear the lyrics, you’re going to have to listen with your eyes closed, ‘cause otherwise you’ll never get past the humor of the video to actually hear what they’re singing. For their amazing arrangement skills, check out Do You Hear What I Hear. (Adam’s arrangement. Nothing else like it.) For their tight harmonies, check out Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Brothers In Arms, or Auld Lang Syne. For their mashups, check out Thinking Out Loud/Let’s Get It On, Fishing in the Dark/Boondocks, Country Fried Pop, or Woman, Amen/Female. The Home Free men are masters of collaborations. They put the spotlight on their collaborator, supporting them with wonderful vocals and amazing harmonies. Check out God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood, American Pie and Vincent with Don McLean, Elvira with The Oak Ridge Boys, Children Go Where I Send Thee with the late Kenny Rogers, Don’t Laugh At Me with Mark Wills, Christmas In Dixie with Alabama, Delta Dawn with Brooke Eden, or Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For with Peter Hollens. Get at least five videos under your belt and then listen to Mayday - the official video. After Mayday, you’ll be ready for Tim and Austin doing My Maria or Tim’s mashup of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay. Then, when you come up for air, check out Rob’s and Austin’s “Two Country Singers Try Singing Opera.” You’ll need smelling salts after that one. Don’t miss their official videos. The Home Free men will often do a straight, gorgeous vocal performance, but they’ll add elements of humor to the video that will leave you chuckling or even laughing out loud. (Folsom Prison Blues, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Working For A Living, Brother, Life Is A Highway). And God help you when you get hit with the Home Free Curse. They’ll cover a song you absolutely cannot stand and make you like it against your will. I’d been hit by the curse four times before I gave up and quit counting. I’m not the only victim of the Home Free Curse, either. Although their covers are amazing, don’t miss their original compositions. They range from the the poignant (So Long Dixie) to the patriotic (Land Of the Free). These include Dive Bar Saints (one of my favorites), Road Sweet Road, Catch Me If You Can, Lonely Girl’s World, The Stargazer Trilogy (Give Me A Sign, Stargazer Lilies, MR), Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget, Love Me Like That, Skull And Bones, and many, many more. Their synergy is phenomenal. Each is an artist in his own right, but man - when they sing together, magic happens. Wicked talent polished by decades of hard work. (Unchained Melody, Castle On The Hill, Seven Bridges Road, Only In America) To paraphrase another Home Fry, “Their covers are upgrades, their medleys are brilliant, their collaborations with the original artists are inspirational, and their original songs are masterpieces.” You are doomed, Home Fries. Bring ketchup.

The drums that you heard were vocals, while they do have "a beat boxer" per se, he does many other instruments with his voice. Even other members can do some sort of effects with their voices. Acapella has come a long way and Home Free is one version. The Big 3 includes Home Free, Pentatonix and Voiceplay. While Home Free does a lot of country, their catalog is vast and incredible and seeing them live is an experience. If you continue down this path, the Home Fries (what we fans are called) will come like a moth to a flame. And lastly, I think you came in looking for an R & B cover of this song instead of a Home Free cover.

Wow, thanks for the deep dive into the world of Home Free and a cappella magic! I had no idea the drums I was vibing to were actually *human*-that beatboxer must be part percussionist, part wizard. And 'Home Fries'? Love it. Sounds like the most delicious fanbase ever. I’ll admit, I might’ve walked in expecting R&B and got a full-on vocal buffet instead. But hey, I’m here for the ride! Guess I better buckle up, because it sounds like the Home Fries are about to roll in!

The capability of excellence by each of the individuals in this group is off the charts awesome that allows them the flexibility to do so many types of vocalizations and to do it exceptionally well. I have not found a genre they are afraid to tackle whether individually or as a group they are amazing. Then top that off with their arrangements that augment the presentation to be "Home Free" owned. Home Free’s library of songs/productions both covers and originals and include a vast array of genres has become incredible. It is just plain fun to review and realize their gifts and talents are over the top extraordinary. This group can simply stand tall amongst the industry vocalist peers (groups and gifted vocalists). They bring about an excitement intrigue wondering what they will produce for us today, near future and the years to come. They are not bound by a particular genre and whatever they produce you know it is going to be quality. Home Free produces at a high level of integrity and always amazing the interpretation both vocally and visually with their video presentation. Every individual in their vocal group is significant top-notch performer and each draws out the very best in each other. I always look with anticipation to their next release. Thank you Home Free!!! ❣ Nice reaction, subscribed today...... 💟
