He announced a split decision win when the fight was declared a Majority draw. Two judges scored the fight a draw and one scored it in favour of Tyron Woodley . The title is retained by the champ.

I think Buffer said after all this that he originally questioned the judges about what they wrote before he made the first announcement. But the judges/commission insisted they were correct with the split decision. So that's when he went up and announced it. And then the commission or whoever realised.

Split decision if its 2 judges over 1 example, 47-48 for A, 48-47 for B and 47-48 for A. For majority decision it should be 2 judges over 1 draw 47-48 for A, 47-48 for A and 47-47 for B now if you will reverse that and have 2 judges scoring draw over 1 it is majority draw.
