He ended up living in China, Japan and India for 16 years where he studied Zen, Yoga, Kundalini and Taoist Fire traditions. Speaks fluent Chinese and Japanese. First Westerner to be certified in Beijing by the People's Republic of China to teach the complete system of Tai Chii Chuan. A really unique interview.

Kind of refreshing to listen to a Westerner who understands these esoteric eastern methodologies and is able to explain them in a way that is non-pretentious and accessible. I like how he really talks about relaxation in tai chi. That's important on so many levels. It's not like our western laziness, because it requires so much focus to achieve. It reminds me again of stillness... our nature is this ever permeating stillness, so is it stillness which gives rise to our nature, or is it our nature that moves around stillness? It really hits home when you realize it. It's actually quite an uncomfortable notion when you really ruminate on it.Living it is freeing, though

I train every day with Men and Women from 'the other side', who speak on English, but share many GREAT techniques, many rarely seen in 'schools', etc. I train 2 hours a day minimum, 365, been doing this for years. It's all on a first name basis.

He's fun. I always like his stuff. That whole shunyata thing though... I see it differently. It's not "emptiness", it's suchness. It's stillness. Anyone who seriously meditates has probably had that "ah ha" when they get past the mind and realize shunyata... but that's not the "truth", only a "layer" of the truth. Shunyata is not devoid of qualities, it is "phenomenal", it gives rise, which means the wuji has a nature I think. We have our natures, but shunyata "is", it has existence.

I don't care much about if his ego is strong, small, big, weak or whatever. If I have the reactions to it, I would rather look at my reactions and find out why are they the way they are. Once I happened to spend with this guy a whole day, when he was visiting my country - just strolling with him around the city, talking, keeping quiet - nothing special. And the way my being was affected by this "nothing special" with him is hard to describe and my mind was put into rest for quite a time.

I personally don't like so-called egoless people. They are like a flat beer. Bruce knows his stuff and likes to tell a good story. BTW, there are plenty of high level chi-kung guys with a spare tire. Don't let that fool you bro. Don't judge, do like I did and go 'play' with them a bit and you might have a 'lil' surprise. I am not talking about provoking them to a fight. Just ask politely and offer to pay for their time, maybe an hour, some will be more than happy to be put to the test and do all kinds of things with you like push hands, etc. This could be harder with an older Asian guy as they tend to take themselves a little seriously. Build rapport first and be honest as to where you are coming from. If they are for real, they will laugh and will be happy to proceed.

When you realize stillness as the self, you have to be really careful. That's when karma ripens and you start getting tested. You gain dissociative awareness which makes all kinds of weird stuff happen, and you're only seeing the most superficial layer. The consequences of your thoughts ripen quicker, because when you meditate your thoughts are more potent. This means you can serve God (what I call God, I love God.) or you serve your ego. That's when you mess up.

It's also about being spontaneous and in the moment responding to your immediate circumstance and the energies around you. If you look at this particular conversation Ian is stuck or fixated in his particular psychologically conditioned pattern and is obviously struggling to let go of his strict adherence to following script. Add the fact of fear what someone else is going to think (which is so common in a TV/recording setting) it obviously adds a stifled energy. Bruce didn't take to lightly to the subliminals and doesn't play the TV time limit game. Also if Ian isn't showing a genuine heartfelt interest in the speaker then this type of entrainment can lead to elements of discord within the flow of conversation. Basically Ian's following a script and wanting to control the direction and Bruce is reading energy and attempting to help him to let go.. Ian didn't appear very responsive. And toward the end Bruce just basically highlighted the truth that repression will suck the life out of you unless you make an effort to change.. Bruce's craazy wisdom! it's a beutifull thing

I've seen a couple of clips like this, old, grainy, no sound. You'll notice that the 'attacker' is signalling his 'intent' from a mile away. The charging 'attacks' and telegraphed kicks are so obvious I'd have to think these are staged. It's called Narcissism. If you look I to the Enneagram model of personality, Bruce fits the unhealthy expression of it perfectly. He has enough of the healthy traits too, which allows him to be accomplished. Bruce is an E8 who has done zero spiritual work in the Christian fruits-of-the-spirit or Western-psychological sense of that word. An NLP teacher once summed it up to me clearly when referring to the guy who ghost-wrote at least one of Bruce's books: "The Tao is EVERYTHING, which means it's big enough to hide anything behind, especially from yourself." Just trying to make yourself appear like a better person by trying to find faults in others, You must think yourself pretty superior in intelligence, with the judgmental clarity of a god to think you can sum up and label a mans personality/character with just a word, Who's the one really with the Ego? Thinking you have it all figured out with your superior moral character, which is only a result from your constant indoctrination and disconnection with nature, You take so easily the paradigm which has been presented to you through drawings or television, without ever questioning a thing. In reality it is this way of thinking which keeps you lazy, ignorant, and docile, "Which is precisely the reason you will fall into Abi Hell/ endless transmigration" ;]
