I’m a 15 year old girl. For my birthday my parents let me go to my first concert. It was a kiss concert on their farewell tour. I have always loved kiss and after seeing that concert I decide I wanted to learn how to play the guitar. :)

Wow, this was recent then? That's cool someone your age is into KISS. Can I ask you something? As a teenager in 2020 who is into KISS, how do YOU feel about Tommy and Eric being the characters they are in the band? To someone your age coming into KISS at this point in their career is KISS, TO YOU, Paul, Gene, Tommy and Eric or do you feel it's two replacement musicians up there and not the real guys?
@luke_white3294 жыл бұрын
Thats awesome. I saw them on that tour too in Virginia Beach and that's the best I've ever heard that venue sound. Phenomenal band. I hope you enjoyed your first concert :)

I've often thought that you and I have a lot of similarities in our playing, and I think this video just solved a piece of the puzzle. I started playing guitar in 1993, not long after Alive III and Revenge came out. The KISS I was first into, Bruce Kulick was the lead guitarist. Like you, I've found myself doing so many of Bruce's techniques. And it must be purely subliminal. I've always been drawn to Bruce and held him in high regard, mainly because of his balance, discipline and overall likeable human personality. I have a brother 5 years older than me, and he was very into hair metal. However, I was a grunge kid by age. I'm 41, and so Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and others were also hugely influential to me. So I find myself a hybrid guitarist. I've been in grunge/alternative bands, and as well I've played in a few 80s bands. Also, I happen to be a huge Beatles fan, and I've done a stint in a Beatles tribute band as well. That aside. I suspect you and I around the same age and probably have a similar path. This video was hugely resonant for me. Those licks you say you find yourself favoring, I seem to do the same as well.

Bruce is a PHENOMENAL guitarist. One of my favorites! His brother is no slouch either, but he is kinda nuts.

Bob is a jealous man who can be quite catty at times. I think he has always had a chip on his shoulder against Ace for taking his job and he has also had one against Paul and Gene and maybe even a slight one against his little brother for getting the gig that he had but lost. But then again, can ya really blame the guy lol? I mean go back to 1972 and he auditions for this band and he is basically told he has the job, then some crazy looking "bum" comes wandering in and takes the job, OK well, those guys probably won't go far anyway - and then a few years later they are the biggest band in the world, they are all millionaires and then it reminds you that you had that job, for about 5 minutes lol.

How old are you? Bruce was the lead guitarist for KISS for 12 years!! He was their guitarist up to the point where the original 4 members decided to reunite and do a reunion tour and at that point Bruce and then drummer Eric Singer were actually still employed by KISS and received paychecks even though they were not in the band, I guess Paul and Gene felt they owed them something lol. It's funny now to see Eric up there in the cat makeup.

Bruce Kulick IS the best KISS guitarist and I am a 55 year old who first got into KISS in 1977 and the Les Paul is my favorite guitar to this day because of Ace Frehley, who is also the best KISS guitarist!! Now how can I say that they are both the best KISS guitarists? Simple, I like Ace's playing style the best and I like Ace's "ahh who worries about technique" approach to playing the guitar, but i just like Bruce overall LOL. Ace is umm how shall I say it, kind of well, a jerk lol. I love his guitar playing on those first KISS albums and a few of his more recent solo stuff, but his overall attitude and the way he gives off this impression of "yeah, I am a rock star and you aren't" just leaves me cold. Bruce ALWAYS has a smile, always seems eager to please and just seems like a down to earth regular guy who can kick some serious butt on the guitar! Who do I think is the better musician? Bruce by far, but it's odd because I am more in awe of Ace's playing than Bruce's lol. Did you know Bruce has his own KZbin channel where he talks about his time in KISS and he and his wife often times perform KISS songs, she has a killer voice!! You should check it out if you haven't already. One thing I truly respect about Bruce is that even though he was offered the job as the Spaceman in KISS once Ace was out, again, Bruce turned it down because he says he had his own "character" while in KISS and it just made no sense for him to go out and act like Ace after he had been the guitarist for the band for 12 years, which was longer than Ace. Plus I just can't see Bruce in that makeup and having to "act" like Ace like Tommy Thayer does. I like Tommy too and I am one of the older fans who respects what he has done for the band and wish him nothing but the best, Same goes for Eric Singer! Bruce's style of guitar playing is not really my thing, although I did pick up one of his habits, he uses two fingers when he holds his pick, I often find myself doing that lol. Anyway, it's cool Bruce watched and gave you a thumbs up!! Goes to show you just never know who could be watching your channel ehh? like maybe someone like Ronnie Wood could be watching you and even subscribed to you and you would never know unless he tells you, right?
