Bruce Lee shared quite a bit of profound wisdom during his tragically short life, but there was one philosophy that really left his mark. Inspired, Conor used it to become a champion nothing like the world has ever seen. Join me, as we break down Bruce Lee's life philosophy.
Music: SPACE TRAP - Dub Chill Cloud Rap Music _ Free Chillhop Instrumental Beat (NEW 2016)
Jumio Offbeat - Chill Out Beat (Hip Hop _ Rap Instrumental)
"No path as the path, that was the code Bruce Lee lived by, and it’s interesting how he stumbled upon it. When Bruce lee studied under Ip Man, he was considered a very talented warrior, but at the same time, nobody wanted to spar with him simply because he had a quarter German in his blood. He wasn’t pure Chinese, thus experienced a lot of resentment from his peers. Instead of complaining, he would search for anyone willing to train and spar with him, stumbling across a sea of disciplines very different to his own. He was fascinated, and thought it was foolish dividing himself and his study from everyone else, just because they were different styles… Why have so much pride preserving a style when they all have something incredible to offer? He felt this way, because it resonated with the same feeling he had when all his country men rejected him just because he was a quarter German… “why won’t you train with me just because I’m different? I have so much to offer, we have so much we can learn together, why do you reject me just because I’m different…”… He saw that every time people told him, "that style is inferior, we don’t mix our styles with them, stay true to your own style"… Every time he heard that, he felt tremendous resentment because that was the same feeling, the same pride that rejected him, the same pride his country men used to refuse sparring bruce for his german blood". So... Bruce rejected their pride, and would steal techniques and knowledge from other disciplines picking fights with students from different schools until he beat up the wrong people and had to flee to America. There his hunger to learn didn’t end. He continued to search for different techniques attempting to refine the ultimate style. He would spar with different disciplines, read books from krishnamurti to fencing, trying to refine his own style, which would eventually become known as jeet kune do. As he continued through this path, the endless sea of art forms, he tried his best to perfect the ultimate style. Through years of solitude and constant study in a storm of books, he tried… But he couldn’t do it. He couldn’t find the ultimate style… He even became resentful of the name he coined for his own discpline. Jeet Kune Do for it translated to way of the intercepting fist, implying a way of doing things… He realized even that was not perfect… He gave up trying to find the best method and realized, there was no method, there was no best. There is only the journey. The journey of you, and through a bit of direction, constant study and practice, through the techniques learned, you were never trying to learn how beat another person, but instead, you were always learning how to beat yourself, beat yourself and grow through the many forms of expression provided through these techniques. It was never about you being better than him or her, but being the best of who you were to your own perception. Life was a constant battle with oneself, and through experimentation, failure, study, success, we come just an inch closer to that understanding, an inch closer to understanding the unique infinite that each of us are… It’s interesting how Albert Einstein came to the same conclusion, that there is no one truth, even creating the meshurian circumference to show you’ll only find more methods attempting to seek one, only find more questions for each answer… But through this understanding he came to understand, that we are all special, that because we are all unique and different, we have something incredible to offer, and through that notion believed we were all the same. Whether you were black, white, brown, Chinese, hispanic, native, Irish, the many colours of the human condition, we were all precious, yet for that same reason all one in the same…
The biggest difference between Conor and every other mixed martial artist is this: Most martial artists don’t believe in themselves, they believe in their style, they are representing their..."

Water is the softest substance in the world. But it can penetrate thru anything. Rock, granite you name it. Put water into a cup it becomes the cup, you put water into a teapot and if becomes the teapot. Now water can flow it can crash... Be the water my friend. Lol I remember those lines so clearly.

Sebastian: Lee focused on martial arts since he was 13 when he became a student under IP-man. Yes he also did movies but his focus was martial arts. I mean he started teaching in -59 and didn't participate in a major movie until 71. Movies and tv for him was a way of actually earning some money and later on he used them for spreading his philosophies and JKD. So he was not just mostly an actor.

NAME: TITLE: Bruce Lee Original G.O.A.T. Bruce Lee was legitimately way before his time, he revolutionized how we view and study martial arts, he was truely unique......awesome vid MindSmash.......you really impress me on how well knowledged you are in martial arts, my dad got to study with Danny Inosanto(which was a close friend and training partner to Bruce Lee) my dads sifu Shannon Welch went to Vietnam with a man named Kim Huey, Kim was a top student of Dannny, so its funny alot you spoke of in this video ive heard my dad say......you know, about the True-ality of what it is and what it means to become a True Martial Artist (One who Truely Understands Martial Arts) which is what Jeet Kune Do is, its an art that lays a pathway for someone and specializes in helping you to find your true potential in expressing yourself both physically and mentally, Bruce Lee was his own kind of genius

This isn't a comparison between Conor McGregor and Bruce Lee, it's a video showing that Bruce understood Martial Arts like no other, Conor learned an important lesson from the best teacher out there, either that or he figured it out on his own, either way, what Bruce said stands and Conor is an example of that. You can go as far as you want if you try and if you believe that it's possible.

Bruce Lee got into plenty of fights from just tough guys he met on the street and would later invite to train with him and his students to boxing champions who thought the same thing as you and ended up learning a rough lesson in seconds. He got challenged to fights so often that he had to take a small revolver to the movie sets with him because some guys tried giving him no choice but to fight them. He still accepted most challenges, just not the ones he considered disrespectful because people were quick to forget he's still a person with his own daily routine. Anyone who knew him or have any relation to him at all knows this. You clearly don't know him well enough to say something like that.

They grasp and tug at each other's limbs seeking to know who is more dominant. The more cunning *wrestler* slides his slick legs over his opponents hips, momentarily gaining traction as both of their coarse bird's nest above their crossed manhood ' s entangle. Propelled by powerful sinewy legs the pin is made straddling the losers chest, and knees trapping the arms to earth. Defeat smells of the pendulous, hot, and loose sack. The victor dunks his scrote, into the gasping maw of the defeated(a winning gesture understood before the advent of proper tea). No homo dude.

I think he means in a more practical, clear and visible sense. This happens with mma as you can find out how styles and martial outs do in a practice test. Bruce has inspired and taught many. Conor was one of them and you can visibly see some evidence of this. Conor was in the position to showcase and prove the effectiveness in a more objective way. We did not see Bruce in the same situation as Conor. We all ready knew it was revolutionary and amazing but it can transcend to others and be successful in an indisputable way. It's looking at the evidence and not thinking with feelings. When you do not compare you do not see, well to an extent.

None of us knew/know either of these men other than by their achievements. One was a dirt poor Chinese guy who went off to change action cinema, write a philosophical tome, combine various disciplines to create his OWN martial art (rudimentary MMA), and leave the world with one of the most iconic legacies in the past century, all by the age of 33. The other is 28 and won some MMA fights and is good in press conferences. If in 45 years Conor McGregor is as respected as Bruce Lee I'll return to this post and apologize.

He wasn't trying to act like a know it all nor was he stating what he thought was fact, he was sharing what he gathered and what he understood. Ju Jitsu is a great martial arts Royce Gracie was able to take on people bigger and stronger than him which took the world by storm, so at that time yes it was a superior way of thinking, and utilizing body mechanics but in my personal opinion with others who would agree Martial Arts isn't a stopping point in one form, it's a learning curve that can be a tool to merge more knowledge, practicality, protection, and meditation or all the above. I thank you very much for the compliment though. MindSmash I think was sharing valuable information, so again, I don't want to lead people to believe he isn't worth listening to based on what I added in my experience and thoughts.

All respect to the Legend, Bruce Lee but your statement is false. Modern MMA might not be as popular as it would be but there would still be MMA. UFC was started by the Gracies. They were, at least not directly, motivated by Bruce Lee because BJJ developed separately from JKD. Brazil's Vale Tudo would still have existed no matter what and the Gracies would have still organized the first UFC to challenge other styles. Even in Asia, the MMA setup (which predated UFC) was in no way influenced by Bruce Lee. They developed from the 60s-70s shoot wrestling by the likes of Antonio Inoki and Masahiko Kimura. King of Pancrase, Sengoku, and eventually, Pride FC were influenced by these shoot wrestlers. Not Bruce. Lastly, the notion of cross-training that MMA has developed into wasn't started by Bruce. A lot of hybrid schools predated him and the philosophy would have existed whether or not Bruce existed. Again, Bruce is not to be taken lightly. I respect him. I respect his philosophy. I respect his place in the martial arts world. But no, MMA would still be around without him. I wouldn't even give a reply on WWE and boxing being non-existent without Bruce. That is just plain stupid.

@Seamo57 4 жыл бұрын
Barry Shearer - well the concept of “comparison” is essentially one of the driving forces behind competition. No one is the same. Nothing is truly exactly the same... And striving to do better makes you better! I think it’s pretty simple. If there’s no comparison, there is no competition, so… I’m not saying that everyone should be ultra-competitive in “every aspect,” that’s a personal choice for humans! You don’t see how competition is extremely important in virtually every aspect of existence? And I’m not talking about simply competition among yourself and another person, but competition with yourself to be your best self… this obviously requires “comparison(s)” and without it, Animals, human beings, nothing would ever advance... seriously? This is literally one of the most basic aspects how evolution works.… Natural selection. Nature is constantly competing. There’s compare, contrast, etc........ the basis of all life… Whether you like it or not, when there is any kind of evolutionary leap forward, it comes from a mutation, and if that mutation allows for more offspring, meaning that it’s “quite competitive” LOL… Then it most often sticks! So comparison is quite natural. Still learning & enjoying things Doesn’t necessarily mean that something negative is going on, I’m just really amazed by your philosophy. You can enjoy things, You can love one another, you can appreciate one another and some things, or many things, or all things... but competition is at the very heart of existence. You should really read some more. Your philosophy is quite flawed on so many levels in my opinion. Even right now with this comment you made, your in a sense “competing with other people’s beliefs & philosophies“ are you not? So there’s a comparison going on… This literally goes against the basis of what every living thing does... Or at least the perpetuation of it, the betterment of not just yourself but others! The openness to do so is a very important thing to a most people, it moves and drives us forward as a species... No matter what, there is some form of comparison, & in turn competition… And if not, what would you suggest, And by that I mean to discount all life on this planet, I would love to hear your alt. philosophy… You’re hopefully going to try to sway me into A completely different belief system or not? I don’t think you really thought about this very much before you posted it. I’m not sure how old you are, but when you live a bit longer, maybe you’ll understand this concept a bit better. Again I mean no disrespect, I’m just being honest.

Bruce's father, Lee Hoi-chuen, (李海泉) was Han Chinese, and his mother, Grace Ho (何愛瑜), was of half-Chinese and half-Caucasian descent. Grace Ho was the adopted daughter of Ho Kom-tong (Ho Gumtong, and the half-niece of Sir Robert Ho-tung, both notable Hong Kong businessmen and philanthropists. There is no proof in any documents that Bruce Lee had a maternal German grandfather as popularly thought, rather his European ancestry came from an English maternal grandmother. His mother had an English mother and a Chinese father. Bruce was the fourth child of five children: Phoebe Lee (李秋源), Agnes Lee (李秋鳳), Peter Lee (李忠琛), and Robert Lee (李振輝). Lee and his parents returned to Hong Kong when he was three months old, So i think in this area that you meation in this video should be corrceted. As for the rest of the video it was great.

Bruce Lee or not Bruce Lee, what he says there is 90% bullshit. What he said about cultural differences between martial arts leading to division is correct, but concerning the "no way path" it's fucking stupid and contradictory to his own journey. You can only follow "your own way" once you've ALREADY LEARNED enough technique to have a diverse arsenal of skills. One of the most decisive cognitive abilities that distinguish the human being from the monkey, is that human beings can transmit a big amount of knowledge (monkeys can only learn and emulate but they can't transmit what they've learned). This is NOT a bad thing in itself, it's a huge natural gift that everybody enjoys in a way or another. Bruce Lee was Bruce Lee not solely because he was a fucking genius that "totally expressed himself without limitation", but because he was taught good techniques that he worked hard to master until it became a part of him and he could then shape at his will because he came to a point where he could take a step back and have a critical point of view of what he had learned. But those techniques didn't pop out of nowhere, it belonged to a cultural heritage that he was lucky to get from teachers (be it physical teachers or legit writers that he read from). And this is historically universal and fucking obvious. Of course you can live your life and fight the way you want without learning anything from any style, but guess what, except if you're really a fucking genius working alone 24/7 day without making any mistake (which is impossible), you'll remain an amateur that would most certainly get his ass kicked by any learned initiate in any martial art. By experience we all know that people who know nothing about fighting and pretend to follow "their own way" tend to produce fucking bullshit that doesn't work and could get you killed in a fight. There's plenty of this crap on youtube. There's also a reason why "MMA" means "MIXED Martial Arts" and not "No Martial Arts" : The fighters don't come up with their own invented techniques (they might sometimes but it's not the rule, it's the fucking exception to the rule), they borrow techniques from diverse martial arts. And that's the true fair way of life : learning by taking what is good from any source and leaving what is bad from any source. Etymologically speaking, "art" means "technique". A technique is 99% of the time something that you LEARN from someone else. I do respect Bruce Lee's work and views, but I won't swallow anything that he said just because it came from his mouth, especially when it's just false.

Dakota Odom. "Go watch Bruce Lee's only recorded fight,"...There is no such video, you are the one confused. Lets say that fight was real..who was his opponent that justifies your claim that he was proven. That was a demo not a fight.

Dakota Odom...what tournaments and when did he compete? You claim is laughable lie and shows you know zero about Bruce Lee. What Conor thinks is not relevant in this discussion, I doubt he even knows the real facts and only knows what delusional liars as yourself have told him. I value Martial Arts and I respect Bruce Lee for his genius but I can do so without making up lies, you are the troll and disrespecting his memory and actual accomplishments with false claims.

Bruce Lee was many things. Maybe many people doesn´t see exactly that, but despite being a fighter and a martial artist he was also a great humanist. He wanted people from all over the world and from all layers of society to connect and find friendship, development and wisdom through martial arts. He wanted to break down all walls of prejudice, hatred, narrowmindedness and racism. To a certain degree he succeded. Chinese movies, people and martial arts became more accepted because of his efforts. But unfortunately we still see prejudice and racism to a very large degree. If Bruce had lived longer he may even have been able to do something about that too, so the world would be a great place and not only a better place. He was phantastic on many levels therefore he deserves that we honour him by trying to become better humanbeings ourselves. Let´s share a bowl of the well of wisdom in the memory of a truly great human being and all that he was while he was with us.
