I appreciate William's testimony concerning Bruce, but from what I gleaned over the years, Bruce DID, in fact, possess Natural speed. But he continued to work at it, which is why he was so difficult to deal with in sparring match-ups!

Interesting that George talked of Shih Kien being on his last legs, and that he probably wouldn't be around much longer. He actually lived another 19 years after this program, passing away at age 96. Bob Baker would unfortunately die just a few years after this interview, in his early 50s; and Howard Williams would go on another 12 years, passing in 2012. If I had attended this event, I would have probably bored everyone stiff asking JKD questions of Howard Williams, lol

However like you said budget issues could explain it but the guy introducing everyone didn’t seem experienced at all to me. He was holding the mic wrong where it could feedback and sound distorted but I am glad they put it together.

I went to one of these conventions around the same time at the same place organized by the same people I think and met Taky Kimura & his son at that one & still have the photographs & autograph from the day. I also went to another one at the Hyatt hotel where Shannon was attending, which I am a bit gutted about, as I was the only person in the room who didn't get to meet her after the talk, as I kept on having panic attacks at the time & kept on freaking out everytime I got in the queue to meet her, which is a real bummer now, when I think about it. I did manage to get a signed photo of her though, which I must have picked up from the merchandise store. I also have a recording somewhere of the Taky Kimura convention, which I am hoping to upload at some point, although it's audio only and the sound is probably quite poor.

The Taky convention is around 1994. I think the video for it is on KZbin somewhere split into various parts. You may see yourself on there. I was there to on that day with my brother. There's a special group on Facebook with plenty of photos from that day. If you use Facebook then do a search on there for Tracking The Dragon Convention Taky Kimura and you should see it. Shannon also did a Tracking The Dragon Convention the following year in 1995 and at the same hotel in London, The Hotel Ibis near Euston station.

I'm really shocked to learn the truth about Bob Wall because he has really praised Bruce in recent years. I don't understand why Bruce was pissed with Bob regarding the glass incident because he allegedly asked Bob to come at him as fast as he could, so with no disrespect to Bruce, he obviously wasnt always lightening quick to have been caught. Random Rambler Bruce did as planned, intercepted the broken bottle with a kick , but Bob did not let it go as instructed. And Bruce accidentally jammed his fist into the sharp jagged weapon as he turned to deliver a kick .This could have severely severed tendons and arteries handicaping the star of film possibly forever ,all because an avoidable mistake.

When Lee died and Enter went through the roof, the gravy praise train ran for decades making many people wealthy but not the way Wall and Kelly felt they should have. Now Bruce wasn't great. He was fast but he couldn't block my techniques. The corrosion had started . Kelly and Wall are both noted for disparaging remarks all of a sudden from the man who put them in the movies. I was present at least one of those times for each one so thats why George Tan is not exaggerating.

@@irened. Thats historic...ETD being your first karate film. What a tough act to follow for the entire genre. i remember the fire dept. at the theater back in 73. They were concerned about capacity violations, people standing shoulder to shoulder in the isles, squeezing the fire exits , sitting on stairs and armrests in the balcony watching that movie. I was not present at this interview. I met Kelly backstage at a show in Chicago. He only chatted with me because I memorized his biography so I could ask the most informed questions about "him" . He side stepped a lot of questions about Lee and dodged ETD questions when he could. He wasn't rude. Just kind of removed. Thats when he said Lee was "pretty fast" but couldn't block his backfist. Thats reasonable. But it got worse. His attitude made him lose points. Wall was a friend of my instructor so I met him more than once when he was in town. He always referred to Lee as "kid". The Kid. I showed the kid this and that. I could take all his shots so he was not that tough to me". Maybe so on a good day. Then he got worse. Quite fragile and so unnecessary given their resume.

Bob Wall has been quoted saying negative things about Bruce right after his death. I remember the 1992 Penthouse magazine article on Bob Wall interview. He has changed his attitude towards Bruce the last 10-15 years to his benefit I’m sure. I’m glad George shared his experience with Bob Wall. George Tan was dead on in his descriptions of the martial arts climate with the names mentioned. He hit it on the head with Wall and Kelly. You get older and you change your tune because they didn't realize these documentaries became a gravy train because they kept getting made so why not speak well of the "myth" for profit? Ed Parker on down, when Bruce was struggling, they felt above him. When he broke the gauntlet with the movies, they saw more green being associated with him than feeling green towards him. And Lee knew it the whole time. Tan was correct.

I've got a video of Bob Wall and Joe Lewis sat together talking about Bruce. They are looking at photos of Bruce and Wall sparring on the set of Enter and they are really down grading Bruce saying how bad his form was, his arms are in the wrong place and Bob Wall was saying how easy it was to defend against Bruce. It's some pretty down playing things about him. I could upload it but the picture quality is terrible and keeps cutting off. I will find it and have another look at it, see if it's worth up loading. @@GregProbert1971 ...absolutely and I did see that video and was depressed by it. I was ashamed of Wall. I know Wall and his wife personally. I met Kelly back in the seventies and Lewis at a function in the early nineties. And during those times , none of them could give me a straight answer about Lee without including themselves in comparison somewhere in the answer. Wall referred to Lee as a "kid", always a kid. Kelly would change the subject and Lewis said the one inch punch didn't exist, just a gimmick. The hypocrisy of it all...sellouts.

I was there that day and clearly remember Tan stating Jim Kelly hair is completely gray now and he was a tennis coach along with all the same remarks about his attitude towards Bruce. In this Birmingham convention video when he mentions Kelly they have left the bulk of Tans remarks about Jim Kelly in but at one point when it cuts to the audience the audio is silenced for a few seconds and cuts back in to what Tan is saying about him. Three years after these conventions in 1993, Jim Kelly was the star guest ( along with ETD producer Paul Heller ). Did Shaolin Video edit Tans remarks about Kelly because they wanted Jim Kelly as a future guest? I attended that convention and Jim Kelly had nothing but praise for Bruce which lead me to think Tans words 3 years earlier were bullshit. Probably not and Jim Kelly wasn't doing his "I'm better than Bruce" act because he was on stage at a Bruce Lee convention and not a Jim Kelly convention. I really dislike Bob Wall. He's still selling " genuine Karate gi's from the Enter The Dragon set" for something like $30'000 each. There's an interview with him where he states the locker room fight in the 1978 Game of Death was filmed in 1972 with him and Bruce. He's beyond a joke! @@GregProbert1971 Id sure like to know what Tan said in the missing Kelly comment audio. Whatever happened to Tan anyway? He was supposed to be working on a book series called " Tracking the Dragon" back in the nineties. Nothing after that until this convention upload. Kelly was a guest at a show my instructor hosted. He had just done the"Three the Hard Way" movie. He shared a dressing room with Ron Van Clief and didn't like it. He barely spoke to van clief whose a nice guy. Some black belts present wanted to spar Kelly backstage. He said pay him three thousand for three minutes. One guy called his wife. She went to the bank, pulled it, and returned with cash. He later said his contract didn't allow matches while promoting films. He said Lee was pretty fast but couldn't block his punches especially his back fist strike. He frowned on discussing Enter the Dragon. He said it was a racist experience, his scenes shot at the last minute , his fights rushed, the extras calling him " red nigger" in chinese, his dialogue changed daily by Saxon's wife who rewrote his lines, and he wasn't supposed to die in the movie anyway. Bruce let him stage his own fights as a favor but didn't say anything about the acid pool death scene which he hated. He didn't want the close up of his face. They wanted it a lot bloodier. He was not a gracious person then.

@@rancedavis5106 George has a journalist background who ventured to write a multi volume book series covering behind the scenes of each of his films. He stayed in Hong Kong for a long time and had access to footage and information the industry had put away. His responses in this interview were straight from the hip as well as his manuscripts did. If he got published or not I don't know. But he did good work and his comments here were accurate.

bob wall and chuck norris sings bruces praises these days but back in the late 70 - late 80s after Bruces death they at first told people oh yeah i would have beaten Bruce, chuck even in an interview early 80,s he brags oh bruce and i never sparred i mean come on a was the world champ and a pro fighter" such arrogance on the man, several other witnesses say bruce and chuck did spar whilst training and chuck got his ass handed to him.

And in recent videos, both chuck and joe lewis finally admitted they sparred with Bruce. In one of the interviews, Joe Lewis even admitted to getting nailed by Bruce and that Bruce hit extremely hard, like a heavyweight

Bob Baker was working for master Bruce Lee but he was hired by Raymond Chow to be with master Bruce Lee,, like a security guard,, however he became close to master Bruce Lee and he knew what they did to master Bruce Lee, and he did not wanted to work for Raymond Chow no more he left after master Bruce Lee was murder,, they have rumors about that he left and he went to ask for a lound of money to ask mis Linda Lee and mis Linda Lee gave it to him and that he never came back,, but I don't believe that unless mis Linda Lee Caldwell will say it her self,, people talk about only what they hear with out knowing the truth,, and he seem to be a very nice person God bless him master Bruce Lee you're the best.

The photos of them together in Hong Kong (apart from the filming of Fist of Fury) were the times Bob came to visit Bruce and give him his cocaine and other drugs. Other times Bob mailed them to him hidden in boxes containing clothes and other things. I've never seen any evidence to suggest he was hired by Raymond Chow to be with Bruce whats so ever.
