There was no Joey Orbillo sparring session. Joey talked about it in an interview. Joey describes playing tag in a parking lot, while he does say sparring its not what they were doing. Any claims they "squared off" is disingenuous. When Bruce fans are pressed about his actual fighting they will bring up the single match he had in high school against another high school kid. I noticed that Prince also talks about James DeMile who left Bruce and created his own art and is well known to lie about his own accomplishments. No Kung Fu was not designed to take apart Karate fighters. Yes Bruce trained with Karate guys back in the 60's but thats far from what MJW was doing in the 80's and Bruce avoided the Kyokushin Karate stylists which is what MJW studied. The 1 inch punch is a demonstration technique that he turned into a parlor trick, it doesnt work in real fights. Of course Bruce didnt bask in his victory against Wong Jack Man as by all accounts it was an amateurish fiasco that exposed Bruce as a non fighter who couldnt even finish another non fighter who was the same size...which defies all the claims about Bruce dominating Heavyweight boxers.

Thanks for the spirited comment. Let’s break it down and clear the air a bit. Joey Orbillo did indeed spar with Bruce Lee, albeit informally. Joey himself admitted that Bruce’s speed and skill made his punches almost impossible to counter. Bruce wasn’t just a high school fighter; he had plenty of real-world experience, including street fights in Hong Kong. His foundational Wing Chun training under Ip Man was very much practical and effective. James DeMile, one of Bruce’s students, was definitely influenced by him before he went on to develop his own style. Bruce’s philosophy focused on practicality and efficiency, borrowing the best techniques from various martial arts, including Karate. The one-inch punch, while not a street-fighting move, demonstrated Bruce’s deep understanding of biomechanics. The fight with Wong Jack Man, despite mixed stories about the outcome, was a turning point for Bruce and helped shape his development of Jeet Kune Do. Bruce Lee’s impact on martial arts is undeniable, and his innovative approach continues to inspire fighters around the world. Hope this clears things up as this stuff is only going to live in the hearts and minds of fans of the sport. It’s up to us all to pass this info along to the people who come behind us, half of the young folks today don’t read about this stuff enough. Thanks for dropping some real thought on the ones that care to read the comments about the sport.

@@AERoyeaux Bruce was a kid in Hong Kong fighting other kids..while its accepted he had some street fights nobody can say if it was 2 fights or 10...and still it was kids fighting. If you listen to Joeys interview he doesnt describe actual sparring like we think of when real fighters get in the ring and go for it...he describes them playing tag in a parking lot. Bruce's foundation was Wing Chun which isnt known to be very effective and the first real fight Bruce got into with another non fighting Kung Fu guy who was the same size Bruce couldnt finish the fight or even hurt the guy. Hope this clears thing up about these myths of Bruce being a fighter.
You need to read the book Wrath of the Dragon by John little. It talks about all of Bruce Lee fights. Listen Bruce Lee was into street fighting not Karate tournaments. By the way those who were in the karate tournaments they all said he would have done very well if he had competed.

@@luisvelazquez5420 saying someone would do well doesnt make them a fighter, I agree with his speed he could have done well in the point fighting era. He was in Thailand and avoided the Muay Thai fighters who had decimated all of the Kung Fu fighters. He also appears to have avoided the full contact Karate fighters during his era.. Yea its accepted Bruce had some street fights as a kid but nobody can say if it was 2 fights or 10 and still it was kid fights. Yes we all know John Little wrote a book about all the unconfirmed fights Bruce allegedly had but there was never any confirmation and John is a self admitted fan boy so hardly unbiased.
