You're missing the point. Having one discipline of fighting is commonly the case, usually never more than two. JKD utilitizes a multitude of discipline arts and so now MMA/UFC follows that, follows JKD. The fingerless gloves Lee uses in the opening of ETD is also what UFC/MMA follows and copies. And finally Lee showed that realistically in a sport of Martial Art of full range it would end by way of a submission. That's why he is considered the father of UFC/MMA, the major basics are from him FIRST, no one else. 1. Multiple discipline Arts 2. fingerless gloves 3. and the sport fight if anything goes would end by way of submission. All THREE Lee predicted and the UFC/MMA had either followed or were embarrassed by his prediction. This is why Lee is considered the Father. So you are wrong

Another great video. I’m subscribed to several JKD orientated channels to get different perspectives. I must say as a martial and technical nerd it’s easy to slip down that rabbit hole of studying many arts. I’ve studied many arts and I’ll be honest I don’t think I could handle a nasty situation simply because I don’t train with that mind set. Unfortunately most of KZbin guys are armchair warriors. I don’t think it’s wrong necessarily. In general the fighters who actually have real experience all seem to share the direct and economical approach regardless of system. I remember in the 70’s listening to a hard core wing chun guy. A bodyguard. He said he trained like an assassin. Meaning he trained two or three moves for hours every day. He dispensed with the rest. I think he was involved with Chinatown gangs.

That's how human brain works. It takes to much time for it to programme. So you need a lot of repetitions. The tricky thing is to figure out what to pick.

Absolutely agree with you .... B.Lee is not the father of MMA because they are a martial sport, there are rules and a referee who checks that everything is fine and that these sports rules are not violated ... the JKD instead is a scientific art to survive a real confrontation, on the street there are no rules, no referee ... more people who can intervene and more that differs from a sporting confrontation.

The concepts are more effective in a real fight because ALL AND ANY Martial Art is more effective in a real fight than sport. The point is, for either sport or for real, the JKD concepts are there and can be shown in both.

Funny how kids that would of been in dippers and or not born during Bruce Lee's life give their lifetime successful martial arts point of view. When those that worked with Bruce Lee and trained with him, can and have attested to the fact that Bruce developed his style driving from every traditional martial arts and extracted what worked and discarded what didnt. That's MMA. This guy would get his a** handed to him by bruce, wall, inosanto and real men from the bruce Lee era. Heck even today's fighters would humble him.

Jkd is mostly based on western boxing and fencing.And uses principals of those, It's not a mixture of classical martial arts, despite some students of Lee train that way, it's not how late Bruce worked. I know it's hard to believe, when one been brainwashed for decades, but it's all leyed out and its actually nothing new.

BL was pro sparring and developed a special glove which you can grapple with. The beginning scene of enter the dragon is no gi MMA even wit ground fight submission. Of course JKD is not a competition style but on the other hand also trained or did something you can call the beginning of MMA.

Except it was a movie. When you look at actual martial art, his pictures he made for a jkd book, that pictures that eventually were published in the Bruce Lee's Fighting Method books, its much different from the movie stuff. Much more simple and direct, focusing on three main targets, such as eyes, groin, knees.

@@ThomasMarxJKD agreed!!!! the reason im bringing up Tao is just for philosophical argument only. For example. Absorb what's useful, discard etc etc. MMA (though not JKD) has followed that principle. It works!!!!! We can argue it's for the ring and not street oriented but it works. Im not at all trying to prove MMA is JKD but what I'm believe is (not a fact, just a believe) if it wasn't for the principles, we still be point fighting or doing comic book poses in a deep horse stance. American Kempo isn't JKD however didn't Joe Lewis admit the 5 principles influence his thinking and application? I believe Bruce Lee is the biggest influence to ALLmodern martial arts!!!!!
