I was at the Music Hall both nights. He just blew us all away. I also saw him at the Harvard Square Theatre in Cambridge with Bonnie Raitt in 1974. I had never seen anything like him. I walked out of those three shows with my knees shaking. That's how great the Boss's shows were back then. He's the greatest rock and roller of all time!

I saw him one night at the musical in March 1977. I had front row left center mezzanine seats. It was incredible. I remember at one point he came down off the stage and was singing Spirit In The Night. He did five encores. After the 4th the jokingly put him on a stretcher carrying him off stage. He came back out for another song.

Incredible, just stunning. He was an electrifying performer before he wrote his first song. In his first band in 1965 at 15, signed a record contract in 1972; released Born to Run in 1975; sold 30 million copies of Born in the USA in 1984 and 85, & is selling out stadiums all over Europe right now. He has performed at an unmatched level of excellence, writing songs, in the studio, & on stage, for over 40 years. He has earned his stature & success; probably the most respected muscian alive.

This song is just so moving and powerful, it just reaches right into your heart and your soul, even if you were never some urban desperado living on the edge on the dark city streets in 1975. It's my favorite song, too. I was listening to the album version in July, 1978, when I *got* Bruce Springsteen. A couple of months later I saw a version also with the "Say Eyes/You Lied/Drive All Night" interlude at the first of my 61 shows. I'm definitely a hardcore/older fan and I agree. IMO, this is the most intense version I've experienced, or heard on any of about 20 or so boots. I mean, after this, there *WAS* nothing left to say. Bruce? A gift from god? Obviously and absolutely.

@@johnwalls7170 I had to wait another 7 years, September 1985 before I bought out of curiosity the Born to Run album. After about the second or third time of listening, not the first, I was just blown away. Definitely a life changing experience discovering Springsteen properly. Before that, I´d just heard of him as my uncle had some of his albums.

I love how the interlude went through so many different versions from '76 to '78. "Baby we could steal away..." "She had such pretty sad eyes..." "You LIED!!!" "Girl we've got to STOP!" And this one: "Just blow it all away!" His restless creativity on full display.

Audience tape released on CDs 'Forced To Confess' (Great Dane), 'Higher And Higher' (Doberman), 'Stranded In The Park' (RCR), 'From The Dark Heart Of A Dream' (Godfather) and JEMS' 'Are You Ready For The Final Moment'. The latter is the best quality, transferred from Steve Hopkins' master tapes. This transfer can also be found on CD 'Are You Ready For The Final Moments?' (Godfather). Final night of the tour, and a contender for one of the best ever with Bruce in inspired form. Last ever "Action In The Streets" (apart from a 2011 club performance) and last "Don't Look Back" for a long time (1999). Final E Street Band version of "(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And Higher" until 2009. "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)" includes the Miami Horns playing a snippet of "Auld Lang Syne" in the band introductions and a snippet of "Theme From Shaft" in the midsection. "(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And Higher" includes a brief snippet of "I Don't Want To Go Home". A fan recalls "I saw the last three shows and they were definitely as good as it gets. We had no idea that Bruce was close to settling his legal problems, but it was clear that these were special. I remember March 24 as being the hottest show but that may just be that it was the first one that featured "It's Hard To Be A Saint In The City" and "(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And Higher", both showstoppers." -- BruceBase

I think my favorite live performance of this song will always be 1975 Hammersmith Odeon, but this is a close second. If you haven’t heard that one, then you have to check it out. But I love this performance because it shows a different side of his singing abilities. He sounds like he is trying to channel his hero Roy Orbison, during this period. It’s sound very operatic, instead of the gravely voice that he sang with on the earlier versions of this song.

I don't know, but I do know one thing, Bruce and the E-Sreet band are the best, I hear and listen to this one song, might be my favorite this week, depending on my mood, but it don't matter, because tomorrow, it'll be another one, but I listen, had be my favorite that day, from the first time I heard and bought the album, Born to Run, that's enough, said cuz, after that, saw him and the band in Atlanta Georgia many a Time, wish I could see him again before I die, what's so bad about it is when he first started coming down south, no one gave him and the band, good recognition, it don't matter anyway now, if I've been a little older at the time, I would have actually come up and apologize to him and the band, for the lack of support down south now the whole damn world could see what I saw, Circa Civic Center, Atlanta Georgia, 1976!

My best friend went to UNH from 1973-77, while I worked a regular job. But I would visit UNH nearly every weekend to party with "the boys" ~ and girls (running joke was I got a BA in Weekend Partying from UNH; sure had the credits for one). On this date in March, which was a Friday night, I arrived for my usual weekend visit to find "the boys" on their way out the door to see Bruce at the Music Hall. Some rich connection had set them up at the last minute with not only tix, but a dinner prior to the show! I was the odd man out. l remember it was snowing real good, so I wished them well, grabbed "a cold one" and shuffled over to the pinball arcade.
