With the exception of a few players on Asbury, this is the real core E-Street band. NOTHING today tops the raw talent and vibe of this group. You can add singers, horns, more guitars, etc but these original performances will never, ever be duplicated. One of my favorite tracks from one of my favorite albums. Thanks for the upload!

Throughout the 1960's, the Capital Theatre was a porno movie house, with 3200 seats. LOL - not a good business model. When Fillmore East closed in 1971, it was transformed into one of the most important venues for rock music. The entire list of bands that played there over 15 years reads like a 1970s Woodstock.

A bit of a shame that the immediacy, desperation & urgency of the original was passed over in favor of a low key rendition.... Because you really FEEL those things in the album version of Incident. Which is key to it's overall feel & lost it's here, unfortunately. Smoothness not required here....which is what they'd opted for here, it seems. Good, nonetheless. It could've been great. 🚬😎👍

El español Johnny llegó anoche desde el inframundo. Spanish Johnny drove in from the underworld last night Con brazos magullados y ritmo roto en un viejo Buick destartalado With bruised arms and broken rhythm in a beat-up old Buick Pero vestido como dinamita But dressed just like dynamite Intentó vender su corazón a las chicas duras de Easy Street. He tried sellin' his heart to the hard girls over on Easy Street Pero suspiraron "Johnny, se desmorona tan fácil But they sighed "Johnny it falls apart so easy Y sabes que los corazones hoy en día son baratos" And you know hearts these days are cheap" Y los proxenetas agitaron sus hachas y dijeron And the pimps swung their axes and said "Johnny eres un tramposo" "Johnny you're a cheater" Bueno, los proxenetas agitaron sus hachas y dijeron Well the pimps swung their axes and said "Johnny eres un mentiroso" "Johnny you're a liar" Y desde las sombras surgió la voz de una joven And from out of the shadows came a young girl's voice Diciendo: "Johnny no llores" Saying, "Johnny don't cry" "La puertorriqueña Jane "Puerto Rican Jane Oh, ¿no me dirás cómo te llamas? Oh, won't you tell me what's your name? Quiero llevarte al otro lado de la ciudad I want to drive you down to the other side of town Donde el paraíso no está tan lleno Where paradise ain't so crowded Esta noche habrá acción en Shanty Lane". There'll be action goin' down on Shanty Lane tonight" Todas esas hadas de tacones dorados en una verdadera pelea de putas. All them golden-heeled fairies in a real bitch fight Saca los 38 y da un beso de buenas noches a las chicas. Pull 38's and kiss the girls good night Oh, buenas noches, está bien Jane. Oh good night, it's all right Jane Ahora deja que los chicos negros enciendan la llama del alma. Now let them black boys in to light the soul flame Quizás lo descubramos en la calle esta noche, cariño. We may find it out on the street tonight baby O podemos caminar hasta que amanezca, tal vez Or we may walk until the daylight maybe Bueno, como un Romeo genial, hizo sus movimientos. Well like a cool Romeo he made his moves Oh, ella se veía tan bien Oh, she looked so fine Como una Julieta tardía, ella sabía que él nunca sería sincero. Like a late Juliet she knew he'd never be true Pero entonces a ella realmente no le importó But then she didn't really mind Arriba una banda estaba tocando Upstairs a band was playin' Y el cantante cantaba algo sobre volver a casa And the singer was singin' something about going home Ella susurró: "Johnny español, puedes dejarme esta noche". She whispered, "Spanish Johnny, you can leave me tonight Pero no me dejes solo " But just don't leave me alone" Y Johnny gritó: "La puertorriqueña Jane And Johnny cried, "Puerto Rican Jane Se ha corrido la voz de que la policía ha encontrado la vena. Word is down the cops have found the vein" Oh, todos esos chicos descalzos dejaron sus hogares por el bosque Oh, all them barefoot boys they left their homes for the woods Esos pequeños niños de la calle descalzos dicen que las casas no son buenas Them little barefoot street boys they say homes ain't no good Dejaron las esquinas, tiraron todas sus navajas automáticas They left the corners, threw away all their switchblade knives Y nos dimos un beso de despedida And kissed each other good-bye Johnny estaba sentado en la escalera de incendios. Johnny was sittin' on the fire escape Mirando a los niños jugando en la calle Watchin' the kids playin' down the street Llamó: "Hola, pequeños héroes, el largo verano He called down, "Hey little heroes, summer's long Pero supongo que ya no es muy dulce por aquí." But I guess it ain't very sweet around here anymore" Janey duerme entre sábanas húmedas de sudor. Janey sleeps in sheets damp with sweat Johnny se sienta solo y observa cómo ella sueña, sueña. Johnny sits up alone and watches her dream on, dream on Y la hermana reza por las almas perdidas And the sister prays for lost souls Luego se derrumba en la capilla después de que todos se han ido. Then breaks down in the chapel after everyone's gone Jane se acerca para compartir su almohada. Jane moves over to share her pillow Pero abre los ojos para ver a Johnny levantado y poniéndose la ropa. But opens her eyes to see Johnny up and puttin' his clothes on Ella dice: "Esos jóvenes románticos (esos jóvenes románticos) She says, "Those romantic young boys (those romantic young boys) Lo único que quieren hacer es pelear" All they ever want to do is fight" Esos jóvenes románticos (esos jóvenes románticos) Those romantic young boys (those romantic young boys) Están llamando por la ventana They're callin' through the window "Hola Johnny español, ¿quieres ganar un poco de dinero fácil esta noche?" "Hey Spanish Johnny, you want to make a little easy money tonight?"
