Tom Joad has been a staple of Tom Morello/Rage Against the Machine shows forever. But this was the only tour Spirngsteen inluded it in his playlist. And this Anaheim show - which I attended for wildly different reasons - was the first one Tom Morello joined the E Street Band for. They have since repeated the collab several times since. It's a Socialist Dream performance!

TheInfiniteGroove Man, close to it!! I wish Bruce and Tom did more together. And the smile on Bruce’s face when Tom goes off into his solo is just priceless!! This song was perfect for these two iconic musicians/artists. Wow!

I couldn't agree more. The combination of this song and the current pandemic inspired this song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHWkiqt3mbx8iJY This whole performance is legendary. Historic. Especially for Tom Morello, who gave a Hendrix-at-Woodstock-level performance and made me a fan. And, of course, Springsteen's heartbreaking, gut wrenching writing and intense performance. You know, now that I think about it, what makes Morello so great here is that he matches Springsteen's intensity. It's like they're both performing with life-or-death consequences hanging in the balance.

I just watched a Tom Morello interview and it gives this song a whole new meaning. Tom is a heck of a smart man politically, and he is sooo talented with guitar. Bruce, you're a legend!! You, by far, are my all-time favorite musician, and I'm SOOO lucky to see the two of you live for this song on 4-26-12. Keep rocking, Boss!!

There are better words than I have to say how this song taps into our most primal sense of justice, fairness and dignity. Springsteen and Morello’s dusty throats singing our fears and courage; as told by Steinbeck. American music and literature can’t get better than this.

So good and true, the lyrics are like a sharpened blade! Why can't more musicians sing about issues that really matter instead of those empty lyrics that bemoan their own life! Tired of all those love songs that don't make a difference, better let the world know that we need to address poverty, inequality, racism and government abuse in a powerful way!
