Get a copy of the movie, Grapes of Wrath and when they are old enough let them watch Jimmy Stewart portray Tom Joad a poor and displaced young man from Oklahoma who had lost almost everything he knew in life except his family. The book by John Steinbeck is a very intense read that leaves you wondering just how many families were cast to the winds during the dust bowl times. Rage does it much better than springsteins version. He might have wrote the song, but Zack owned that song and made it his.

In case anyone is wondering Tom Joad is the main protagonist in John Steinbeck's "Grapes of Wrath.". It's a story about the Joads and the hardships they face following the dust bowl which destroyed their ability to maintain their farm and force them west to California for better prospects. Tom, just out of prison for murder, comes home to learn of his family's plan to leave town and decides to join them even though it's a violation of terms of his parole. It's one of the original "working class hero" books and it won a Pulitzer and later the Nobel for writing. I won't tell you anymore. Read it if you're interested 🙂

Rage had zero bad songs. Even amongst the greatest bands ever that is massively rarified air.

Powerful stuff! I do not always agree with RATM politics on many issues, but wow this is great stuff. Very moving. What an incredible band. Not even a band, a force of nature. I have no choice but to respect this band...

Not everyone can take a quiet acoustic ballad and turn it into a kickass rock song, but Rage sure did!

“Ma, whenever ya see a cop beatin' a guy, wherever a hungry newborn baby cries, wherever there's a fight against blood and hatred in the air, look for me, Ma, I'll be there. Wherever somebody's strugglin' for a place to stand, for a decent job or a helpin' hand, wherever somebody is strugglin' to be free… look in their eyes, Ma, you'll see me. You'll see me. You’ll see me !
