The brilliance of this song is, like change, it is a permanent opportunity. Well done Bob, and Bruce, and others who have a desire to light a torch and run...

Ich denke Bob Dylan war einfach unglaublich stolz . Ich denke auch, dass Bruce Springsteen und Bob dylan eine Art gegenseitigen Respekt haben und beide jeweils in solchen Momenten vom Stolz erfüllt sind.

They do that for every musician they honor there. In 2009, Sting, Eddie Vedder, Mellencamp and Melissa Etheridge performed several of Bruce's songs when he was honored.

For all the "Bruce Bashers" out there who are Dylan devotees......It's just funny because if you are a true Dylan fan, as in one who truly understands why he is so great, then by the laws of nature you would also understand what makes Bruce so great because it is essentially the same exact thing. You cannot truly love Dylan without loving Springsteen...and you cannot truly love Springsteen without loving Dylan. Yes they are different, but what makes each one great is precisely the same thing.

*chuckle* People who don't like this version don't understand the difficulty of off pitch singing with off metered stops and starts. It's a poetic rendition. Something other artists - ARTISTS - enjoy. This was performed for artists. The rest of you - understand - like Bob said - "We're not all the same."

That is what they do with every musician at the Kennedy Center honors...they do a tribute (someone speaks) and then artists perform. Eddie Vedder played "My City of Ruins", Mellencamp "Born in the USA", Sting did "The Rising" and someone else did "I'm on Fire" when Bruce was honored in 2009. Would you rather them talk the entire time?

When Bruce was honored at the Kennedy Center in 2009, Jon Stewart quoted Bruce as saying that he meld his voice to the mood of the song. He is more nasal on some songs like in the "Nebraska" album....others, it isn't there at all. With Bob, everything is Nasal...perhaps Bruce made this more nasal just for the occasion? Either way, Bruce sounds great! Not sure he has a real Jersey accent at any time!

This is a very good interpretation of Dylans "the times they are a-changing" by Bruce Springsteen. But to be honest: this version wouldn't have made round the world, it's too serious, too dark.
@geraldbostock339710 жыл бұрын
***** Hmmm, Dylans version was written and recorded in a time looking for better things to come. Bruce plays it at a time you only can hope worst things will not happen. That's the difference. Cos' you know...the times they're a-changing

Why the hell does Bruce seem to, as he ages, deliberately TRY to sound exactly like Dylan when he sings??

For gosh sakes Bruce inducted Dylan into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. The person or band inducted chooses the person or band who will induct them. There are interviews going way back with Dylan expressing his appreciation of Springsteen. He particularly liked "Nebraska," which many diehard Boss fans feel is his best album (although it was never meant to be an album - just a demo tape). That being said, as a fan of both songwriters, I have seen live and on video better Dylan covers from Bruce - but unlike others, I don't feel this performance is AWFUL. AWFUL is a strong word. In my view, I feel Bruce made this cover of "Blowin' In The Wind" truly his own. It sounds like a song he would sing. He follows "Blowin'" with a great cover of "Bad Moon Rising" in salute to another of Bruce's great heroes, John Fogerty: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYa9qX-ehN-Cb68
