Sharp looking table Bruce! It's begging for drawers, which you'll probably add once your CNC brings along the obligatory extras. LOL I made my table without drawers at first, but just finished adding in a modular set to mine. I'm very pleased I did! I have storage for all my bits, collet wrenches, clamps, calipers, etc. for the CNC then storage for spray finishes and epoxy. Looking forward to seeing what comes from your workshop next!
@BruceAUlrich3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I've got some storage just to the left of this table for finish and epoxy. I could definitely see me upgrading some storage on here for some bits and extras though!

What size did you make your table Randy? Same as his?
@tnstolle3 жыл бұрын
@@JoeLazzara Yes, I kept the same dimensions (49L x 60W x 30H), although I considered modifying the bottom storage and making it a little bigger. I didn’t simply due to time, but I am completely happy with the table as is. The one change I made was to the casters. I purchased some that drop the legs of the table all the way to the ground because I wanted to avoid any chance the table would wiggle around while in use. They work great! @@tnstolle Hey Randy, thanks for getting back to me. Thats a nice size table. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to go that big because I don't have the room in my garage lol. I figured that once I get the frame built, I can probably adjust the size of the top accordingly. But it can't be less that 4'x4' anyways for the mill I want to get. I also figured I could put my shopvac and dust stopper underneath and still have some type of storage. That's an excellent idea with the casters you used too. It'll definitely keep the table pretty solid. I would think the only time I would use them is if I ever have to move the table, which I'm sure I'd have to at some point lol. Thanks again for getting back to me, I appreciate it buddy.👍

@@BruceAUlrich Yeah Bruce, I think you had an excellent point when you were talking about the 2x4's at the beginning of the video. I could not agree with you more!! It's a great idea using a 2x10 and then ripping it to size because, it just seems like there's never a straight 2 x 4 when you need them lol. I will be doing the same thing you did when I build my table. It just makes sense. Thanks posting this video. 👍

Nice table, if doing 2x8 to 2x4 do your cross cuts first then rips. Makes it much easier to run on table saw. If you cut your top and shelf square and true no need to do all that squaring with frame, screw perimeters and then add mid supports. Are you getting any deflection in your legs with gantry movement without bracing?
@BruceAUlrich2 жыл бұрын
No, I was not getting a significant amount of flex. When I moved shops, I stacked like 1500 lbs of wood on this table and it caused a sag in the middle (It's not meant for that much weight). I have since braced the middle and it's back to flat. I have another video on that fix here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIXUlZKvfs-Sg6M

Hi Bruce, good job! Have you ever checked if the sides are coplaner? I saw some guys bud a torsion box top. I am waiting for my onefinity and probably overthinking this.
@BruceAUlrich3 жыл бұрын
I've not checked for that. I don't think it's really an issue.
@TheShaggyfrog2 жыл бұрын
So I'm finishing up my table build for the X35. It actually ended up very similar to yours despite not following your plans. Do you wish you had made a torsion box? Everyone seems to be pushing them, but I guess I don't personally see the benefit of one for my machine. How is yours with one holding up without one?
@BruceAUlrich2 жыл бұрын
No, I think a torsion box in this cast is unnecessary. Mine did end up sagging a bit and I had to fix it, but that was because when we moved, I loaded WAY too much stuff (lumber and all kinds of stuff) onto the top and it made it sag. I only put the supports in one direction and I should have had some going the other way too. Would not be hard to do.
@TheShaggyfrog2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. Good to hear it hasn't really given you too much if an issue. I feel pretty good about mine.
