I’m 60 years old in March. This song fills me with so many amazing memories of my younger years. I worked in professional music as a pianist for about 37 years. You, Mr Hornsby, are truly gifted. Your music has brought so much joy and today still generates wonderful memories. Thank you.

My son is 12. He has been playing, and practicing piano for 6 years. It was important to me, to show him Bruce Hornsby's masterpiece The Way It Is. He liked it immediately. He learned it, now playing the piece always. I am grateful to Bruce Hornsby for his compositions.

So glad he re-visualized and re-audioized these songs. They were bouncy in the 80's, and sound beautiful in the now. I love it! Thank you💖

Whenever I listen to these interpretations, all my cares melt away, I'm completely captivated by the piano and the words, my brain has no room for anything else when I listen to this. Every chord, every note, every subtle expression I feel an emotional connection and I'm filled with musical inspiration. Thank you Bruce.

I feel the same! This is soothing in times of great tragedy---the human connection... the same thing we all know and have felt so many times in our lives. Thank you, Bruce. Please know your music means so much to so many even until this day. Thank you for giving the rest of what we have no other way to express. You speak for us. Bless you.

Bruce I have loved your music since I first heard "That's Just the Way it Is" as a child. I am 42 and I still get chills when I heard your majestical piano and the way that your voice melds with the melody. Thanks for sharing your gift with the world. You music digs to the depths of my soul and the core of my emotion. Your music makes me think of the things we take for granted. Your music makes me happy. Thank you 😊

I discovered Bruce Hornsby publishing his first commercial album. Living in golden and honey-colored colours with his music. A complete lifestyle in a calm security for some years. Happiness. The 80´s. Later I found songs like "fortunate son" or "circus on the moon". Unique melodies. He´s a genius with the keys. Thank you, Bruce. No one will do this in the future. Cheers from Germany.

Bruce this was my favourite song in 1988- a period of time I was in University and having a hard time mentally and emotionally. I credit this song for pulling me through a period of depression. It was a real thrill for me to finally see you live in spring of 1990 in London, Ontario and meet you and your band after the show and for the autographs. Thanks for the wonderful music and memories. Henry

1988, A teenage couple sat by a famous river in the North East of England, the simplicity of life back then is heartbreakingly blissful. Then the new year saw everything change, as it must. Awesome Awesome "life" song.

I have such respect for you, your melodies, lyrics and humanity. Everything you do reminds us all of the deficiencies of the device driven reality show which we have come to conflate with Life. Music the gift that keeps on giving hope and inspiration to those in need across the world and ages. Keep speaking Beauty and Grace to Ignorance and Hate. Mark Twain approves.

It's like Bruce is re-interpreting and covering his own composition, adding another couple of layers to it. This is my favorite from the latest batch of uploads. Such an emotional song to begin with (Bruce's very first hit!) and even more so in this solo version. Great camera angle as well to study what he's playing.
@luisalonsoecheverria5 жыл бұрын
It's almost cathartic to think Bruce abandoned this song for nearly two and a half decades. His keyboardist JT is a good friend of mine and I always tell him that I'd hope he perform this song, and he never thought it would never happen cause Bruce never cared for the song that much. But lord and behold, Bruce began reintroducing this song only a few years ago during his dulcimer mini-sets with the Noisemakers, which for me was an absolute dream come true as I had requested this song at his shows every time I saw him solo or with the band, and I'm so glad he's adapted the song for his solo shows. It's truly a great song that doesn't get a lot of credit outside the lore of the Range era.

It wasn't a hit 1st time! Was 1st release but flopped... re-released with the upbeat vid & became 3rd Top 20 hit on Billboard chart.

His 1st hit was The Way It Is, though this song was on that 1st album. This is nice but I still prefer the orginial.

Amazing version, bro! You are the master. Cannot name any artist that are able to reinvent and rearrange themselves like you do. This original version from 1986 with The Range is amazing. And this solo performance is too. Thanks for +30 y of open chords/inspiration, Bruce! I started ‘Bruce Hornsby Fan Club’ at Facebook for you. My hero! Thanks 🎹🎶🙏 Sune 🇩🇰
