Bruce your songs, not just this one, are spellbinding, mesmerizing, skllfully written, exquisitly executed lyrics, piano and music that make me feel things that I thought I wouldnt feel again. The only thing missing for me is seeing Bruces face, rather than looking at his back most of the time. I hope that you come to Australia when this covid virus allows it again.

Coolest thing you said was: "make me fell things I thought I wouldn't feel again". ... Brings back youth, hope, and a sense of adventure and possibilities.

Beautiful music. A musician inspiring a musician. Some say the intro is long. The intro is long. But some just don't get it. The music itself is the musician's heart. Listen to that intro close. You will hear the words coming from Bruce's heart. It is a song within a song. I get it.

My mother was a gifted pianist and an elementary school music teacher. Listening to this somehow brings her back. Like the notes are telling us where to go. Ahead. With courage. Like my Mom tried to teach all of her students and me and my brother.
@edreynolds45873 жыл бұрын
You said: "Like the notes are telling us where to go". I was crossing the Texas border one time, and I heard ONE NOTE in a song. I said to myself: "That one note is truth". As guitar maker and musician, the truth those notes is paramount in what takes me to a higher road.

Did your mother play hymns? A lot of Bruce's stuff (especially song F, song C, etc) are very similar to hymns.

Like all true artists, Bruce Hornsby creates a signature world. Bruce Hornsby's music is one that brings a feeling that is unique, and in some sense truly unmatched. I wonder if it is possible for someone who creates this to realize how profoundly his music can affect those who hear it. It moves in a way, to a place that nothing else can, that ultimate measure. There is a beautiful Swedish movie titled "As It Is In Heaven". In it, a noted conductor returns to the small town where he grew up. It is a simple story, he begins to work with the small local church choir. But what happens is filled with grace, there is something that occurs at the end. It is the only thing that I can think of to describe what it is that I think Bruce Hornsby's music does.

I have never been deissapointed. Always uplifted by all of what he and his bands do. Really renewing. ... This is one of the "churches" I go to. A lot of world known musicians I work for get that concept of spirit in the music. I don't have words that are as eloquent, present, or visceral as the notes in the songs that Bruce "channels", or just .... "Is". Inspirational.
