I can watch this man talk for hours. He doesn't even need to sing. Just talk talk talk talk, till I lose my patience

I just listened to this album today for the first time. Christ, what took me so long? Always liked Bruce even though I only knew 2-3 songs. What a masterpiece. Tears started flowing after a few notes of the song Nebraska. So moved by the depth of it, the story, the universal feelings of alienation. What a gifted songwriter. I love you, Bruce❤.

"I guess there's just a meanness in this world." I think about that line all the time.

Same, man. Great line to end on a song also, in a lesser mans hands it could've been a mess of a song... But the boss does it justice. Theres dark nights of the soul here.. He's in the song.. Living it.

Just a magical album, and so much of it is the WAY it was recorded. It sounds like something somebody would find in a bunker 100 years after a nuclear catastrophe. It has a certain atmosphere. Amazing to think that the "Nebraska" song "Highway Patrolman"....its storyline......was made into a major Hollywood motion picture called The Indian Runner by Sean Penn.

Matt Smith Yeah. My favorite Bruce album (though Tunnel Of Love is a very close second). And it was just Bruce’s four track demo cassette he recorded at his house with the intention of doing those songs with the band, but it didn’t suit the material, so he turned back to the tape he’d been carrying around in his back pocket and put that out instead. As for ‘Highway Patrolman’, well, that’s my favorite Nebraska song. And The Indian Runner was quite good. I feel like you could make a film adaptation of each of that album’s songs (the title track was already inspired by the film Badlands which itself was inspired by the real life murderCharles Starkweather), but it would be unnecessary since Bruce’s lyrics are so cinematic already.

I hope he watches the documentary on Paramont+, "12th Victim" and apologizes to Caril Ann Fugate for even thinking that 14 year old girl was an accomplice to those murders as Bruce portays in this song. She is still alive and even decendents of Charles Starkweather have proclaimed her innocent.

Pump the brakes on your moral outrage. She was tried and convicted. She tried to get a pardon and was denied. There's plenty of crimes where victims family members speak on the behalf of the convicted. They have no proof of her innocence or guilt
