I’m 70 years old and this sure brought back memories of the mid seventies when I actually drove a Wrecker identical to that except it was green and a just a little shorter because the gap between the cab and bed wasn’t as wide and ours had a extra 40,000 # bed winch, thanks for the memories. God Bless and stay safe out there!

Cool video! I love big old wreckers. Back in the early 90's I drove a 1975 White fuel truck with a 3208 Cat, positive ground. Every morning in the winter that truck was hard starting. The heater in the cab might as well been non-existent, however, I did get some heat through the firewall. The two speed rear was air operated the two speed motor would freeze and I had to drive it in low range for about ten miles until the rear warmed up, then it would shift. It had power steering, a hydraulic cylinder that ran the length of the front axle and, I believe, connected to the pitman arm, so basically the steering was all me lol.

Greetings from the O-H-I-O Porters.🇺🇸 Those we’re cool old trucks! My buddy has a White 4000 as well & it’s a wrecker.🤩 This is a 72 model? Love the simple dash. The cab was in rough shape & I bet the floorboard is rather rusted as well, but still a good truck.🧐 Love those old shops like that. I went to places like this with my dad when I was growing up. He took me to a lot of old junkyards as well. Love it! 🥰 Glad you got that thing running! It seemed to run rather nicely & it still had good air pressure! Wow! Love to see those old trucks still being used & appreciated! Not abused or neglected! Good stuff! It was nice to have those jumpers as well! Saved ya! Thanks for taking time to do things like this! The old Dodge will be a cool truck to start. It’s probably got a 360 gas engine. Those swing out fenders really opened the front end up for engine access. Loved those trucks, too! The cabs really rusted out if they weren’t taken care of though. Bring it on! Take care! 🥰😎✌️

The reason the steering is geared so low on it is so you can do your work and not need arms like a weight lifter just to drive it. I drove a 70 white 9000 just like it with manual steering and you really didn’t need both arms to steer it going down the highway but backing it into a tight dock it was appreciated

The old Dodge tow truck is a C series . Many of them came with either a 361 or 413 big block gas engine. They also had inline 6cyl. two stroke Detroits in some of the twin screw road tractors which took up a lot of the inside of the cab.
@shadygingergarage2 жыл бұрын
I was gonna say, probably a 413. Seem to be more common than the 361.

I drove a 1971 C 900 with a 238 Detroit and a 13 speed that was a tractor made into a dump and I can attest to the room being taken up in the cab. It was tight in there and hot inside even in the late fall
