I started in 1990 age 22 a 1974 Ford 9000 13sp Cummins sounds crazy but it was a 16 yr old truck. One of many on the road back then. Was my mother's, she owned a grading and septic / trucking business The #1 truck was a restored 1969.. 359 13sp Cummins. She had 50 different trucks over the years all Cummins power and one the newest 1995 mack all purchased new. Why no Detroit or cat? She said Cummins treated her good and all made money. The Mack? She said it was too good a deal to turn down.

A driver for Alberings wrecker service Seymour Indiana trashed the entire transmission on our very nice Cabover International. Too damn lazy to unhook the driveshaft and it jumped in gear while being towed. Broke several gears bent the input shaft ect. MORONS!! So yeah kids don't be lazy or stupid lol.

Couple of observations: 1. Idk about a trans this old but you should really pull the drive shaft instead of putting it in neutral if towing with the drive tyres on the ground to not spin the trans without lubrication. 2. Hard to tell on video so might be irrelevant here but kinda looked like the axle wasn't quite sitting fully in the throat of the forks so a wider fork may have been needed if that was the case. 3. The tiedown on the forks only needs to be tight enough to stop the front axle from bouncing the 3-5 inches out of the forks and leaving a little slack means their isn't a risk of the chains tightening up as the truck in tow pivots on the forks as you go over bumps and whatnot. 4. No safety chains?

Those forks are for round axles like a ford f550, not a square axle. Make sure the axle always sits flat in the bottom of the frame fork otherwise you can over stress the fork and break it.

She’s the older Mack B model. Looks to a B61. Can tell she’s got the flat stepped tanks and the mirrors brackets give the age of era she’s from. Around the earlier mid fifties before 1960. They made slight changes after that with the fuel tanks and mirror brackets. Looks to be on 24 inch rubber with 58k camel back suspension and a 711 thermodyne engine putting little over 210hp
