Those “Ag” trailers for us here in Canada are used mostly for custom combining crews. They haul dual wheeled combines or 300HP+ tractors/Quadtracs/4tracs with grain cart all over the wheat belt from Texas right up to central Saskatchewan/Alberta. Most custom crews usually run a minimum of 3 combines, plus tractor and grain cart, plus Draper headers, plus pick up headers if they get into canola, which is something that’s mostly grown up here as we don’t grow a lot of corn on the prairies. Canola, lentils, canary seed pay way better plus the yields are so much better.

I would stay away from a extendable trailer, yes they loads pay better but you will also realize that the extra load pay goes straight to the permits and pilot car fees, i would buy a 55ton with a 3rd air lift axle and 4th flip axle but only if your gonna utilize the big 55ton other wise I would just get a 50 ton with a air lift 3rd axle and call it a day, keep in mind that if you don’t want to deal with over weight permit then I would just buy a 30ton with a 3rd axle air lift or 3rd axle flip if length restriction, also keep in mind and ask your self what your heaviest load that you want to haul cause the bigger the trailer the heavier the empty weight

As a dealer we stress homework which generally entails what do your customers want? Are the loads/machines they are moving growing getting bigger in the future? Knowing the rules of the road where your going, knowing the route your driving are important questions to be answered. All this information helps with your decision process. Bring this information back to Jason at Globe and I am sure he can Zero in on great trailer for your needs. Nice video and tour.

That guy is great, showed and explained everything, we run a 55 ton Talbert, three axle rear with lift third and manual dump, we only dump air on the 70k+ pound machines, do their necks have multiple height adjustment? We can set our neck height at 6 different levels which raises the whole trailer height without Messing with leveling valve(import for heavier stuff

Back in 2008 the municipality that I was employed with, we received our first Globe 50-ton detachable gooseneck low-boy trailer that’s almost exactly like the grey trailer featured in the video. An independent heavy equipment contractor submitted a bid and won the bid. I’ve been retired since 2011, and currently it’s still in use on a daily operation. The only minor problems occurred was the auxiliary motor that powers the gooseneck other than that it’s a solidly built low-boy trailer. 💯👍🤙🏽

Well Bruce, Globe makes quality product. Nice now they looking for bit of weight savings. What are you looking to move? Bigger tractors? As in hight weight? 26' ft well was standard on 48' rgn 2axle You add 5 ' for 3rd axle you gain weight you can haul if you can keep it to rear. Not lot of hydraulic rgn have upper deck over fithwheel. Talk to your buddies, talk to salesman. If you stick with hydraulic neck ask about padded neck support so you not messing you paint job. Yes in Canada as in some western states we have wider trailers because we can get annual permit to move them. If load isn't over trailers width no more permits needed. Also makes it easier to load at times. Good luck. Merry Christmas to you, family and crew

The quad on the trailer can be a liability,..some states will not give you more weight on your permit for 4 axles, like IIlinois or Missouri. A better choice is a stinger with at least a 10 foot spread. The hydraulics that lift the fourth axle add weight and decrease the weight you can haul. Florida seems more interested in how much bridge length you have than how many axles you have. (Just an opinion but I have hauled super-loads on 13 and 19 axle rigs into and out of Jax, Newark, Norfolk, Wilmington, Charleston, Canaveral, Miami, and Pensacola.) Regards

Really cool tour literally a "One Stop Shop" in the way they can basically build whatever the customer desires. I don't think I heard the tour guide say no to any question you asked. Loved the white with red accents but sadly I would fear what it would look like once put into action? Thanks for taking us along was a little surprised at the lack of automation in the actual build process? It seemed like everything involved the employee named "manwell".

I can't be the only one that was thinking the salesman was gonna pull out a guitar and start jamming at any moment. Okay, kidding aside he did seem very knowledgeable. Hats off to him for explaining things very well. I had a couple questions I wish he would have elaborated on a bit more. 1. I couldn't tell for sure but I was wondering if they are cutting into the main support beam for the larger cross members so the larger cross members actually go through the main support beams and then they weld them or, are they cutting the larger cross beams to the shorter length (3 feet roughly I believe) and welding them onto both sides of the main support beams? If you pause it at the 13:31 mark, you can see that they do cut into the main support beam at the top for the smaller cross beams as you can see the smaller ones are "sticking through" the beams and just hanging there. Plus, if you look at the other side opposite of where the guys are standing, you can see the "I" beam cutouts in the main support beam. But, I didn't see anything for the larger cross beams that are already welded at this mark since they were already welded in place. I believe this is called "pierced beam" type of structure for trailers but perhaps I'm wrong. The reason I ask this is I thought I read somewhere that doing "pierced beam" style construction / production of a trailer in this manner can promote rust or corrosion more than if the beams are connected to the sides of each main support member. I believe I read somewhere that this was due to air possibly being allowed into the pockets of the main support beam if they are "cut" into like a pierced beam style construction would have. But, if you aren't actually cutting into the main support beam, then you aren't allowing the possibility of rust to form. But, maybe this has to do with if the welds are poor and allowing air and/or moisture into the small air pockets of a really poor weld? Can anyone say one way or the other so I understand this? 2. At the 38:00 mark, the salesman mentioned how having 4 axles is a "legality issue". I am not understanding specifically what he is saying with regard to weights and whether having a spread axle or an additional axle is better or worse for hauling. The way I understand things, having a spread axle is allowing the weight to be "spread out" over a point (at least I believe that's what it is supposed to do for a spread axle) and as such, it's supposed to help with not having so much weight at certain points of the ground as you're traveling. At the same time, it is not putting all of the weight on a small footprint or point on the trailer. If I'm not understanding this correctly, someone please correct me or explain it to me better. What I'm assuming is if you had two 20k axles on a semi trailer, if you had both axles closer together towards the very back of the trailer, your cargo will put more weight on the "bridge" or deck of your trailer between the front axle of the trailer and the hitch point of the power unit (semi truk) than if you spread the axles apart from each other (hence the term "spread axle") and you should be able to haul more weight. This is because the "bridge" or deck that you are placing the cargo on would be longer if the axles are closer together all the way towards the back. For example, when semi truckers talk about "sliding their tandems", aren't they doing this for weight distribution purposes? And as such, wouldn't it put less weight on the rear axles of the truck itself if the rear axles of the trailer are closer to the hitch since "some" of the weight would be transferring to or over the rear axles of the trailer? I understand that adding extra axles is actually adding more weight to the trailer itself (empty or unloaded weight) because the axle assemblies along with the added hangers, bushings, suspension, wheels and tires and other things are all going to add weight to the trailer. For the most part, it's all metal with the exception of the tires so this adds more weight obviously. So, sometimes, it may not be more beneficial depending on if you are trying to keep within an overall weight limit as a whole. But, I would think that adding more axles would always allow you to carry more weight since you're adding another axle that is capable of say 20k, 25k, or 30k, in weight carrying capacity by itself. Am I not understanding this properly? 3. I would like to see these trailers actually loading and unloading the cargo that they are being used for and see them in action. Being in the Midwest, I've seen many combines going up and down the road with the extensions (are those what "outriggers" are?) on some of those larger trailers so I understand that many of these types of trailers are for those uses. But, for these trailers that apparently can extend themselves another 26 to 30 foot, what in the heck would they be using those for if they were fully extended? I know we've seen videos where they have those huge gigantic transformers being moved by trailers with what seems like 14 to 20 axles or more that actually have steering on them but these aren't quite up to those sizes. So, I'm wondering what these would be used for with the extensions fully extended. But also, I think it would be really cool to see something being loaded and driven down the road to see these in action. I suppose maybe there are some KZbin videos out there so maybe I'll see if I can find something. 4. I've always wondered how they unhook the front of some of these trailers that split apart. Again, I'm sure there are videos but I thought it would be cool to see here. 5. Bruce, I'm sending you a message because I wanted to mention something I didn't want to make public. Also, do you mind sharing what you are planning to haul with your trailer? I understand larger combines and agriculture equipment is one thing that you would haul with this but just curious if there are specific types of equipment such as construction dozers, blades, cranes, excavators, and so on? Do you currently already haul a lot of this and you're looking to upgrading or is this something you want to get into so you're sort of "taking a leap of faith"? Either way, good luck with your purchase.

Hey Bruce, the real question how big and heavy do you want to haul??? I'm a heavy haul driver that's done 2-2-2, 2-3-2 , 3-3-3 , 3-4-3, 4-3-4.. Ya see when it comes to heavy haul Go big or go home!! Which means not the load on the trailer, but instead the equipment you will need to haul that load.. for the little bit of equipment you might think about wanting to haul, I would honestly recommend a 30ft belly, 3 axle, disc brakes, outriggers, flip neck, LED lights and strobes on 3 sides, center storage area for dunnage, extra chains and binders, etc,.. A center lift and rear lift axle , why you ask 1) you're in Florida 2) having 2 axles that can lift will save you money in fuel and maintenance 3) it gives you options for weight distribution I can personally tell you that Globe Trailers are heavy but again they're built very well.. And surprisingly they actually ride somewhat smooth.. Good luck with your new trailer

10' wide an bigger are used just about standard here in north western Ont. Canada from everything from huge logging eqipment to moving large heavy construction eqipment for everything from road building to transporting to remote reserves over ice road frozen lakes. Mining eqipment. Pipe line pipe an eqipment, dryers You name it. A 10' wide is the most comone trailer used here. A D11 I have seen many times on a really long 10' wide trailer. Working my whole life hundreds of Mike's from home in a large company Bush camp for pulp wood to saw logs. The machines are so big a 10' wide trailer back right under the belly. As the machine sits on 4 big steel ramps. It blocked up and the truck an machine pull forward until the machine sets on the cribbing an the wheels clear the ground. Wheels an finnal drives are removed for transport. Unloading is done the same way but in Reverse procedure

Bruce, I would highly recommend a 55ext with a 4 axle either a flip or stinger and a neck extentionfor a 2 axle jeep (EXT= extendable). 1; resale value is higher. 2; you can actually axle out 110k lbs load if you have a 3 or 4 axle truck, 2 axle jeep and a stinger 4th axle in Wyoming at least (but as you know each state is different). But you'll have to get the neck extention to be able to have a 55t fit onto a jeep. 3; there is a lot of potential for long loads that would not be possible with out the extendable portion of the trailer and are still within the weight rating of the trailer. Also I would add the chain thing on the side that we're pointed out very briefly, and the center "D" rings on the inside of the main beams down the entire trailer and chain holds as well. The more options you give yourself to secure the load that are built into the trailer the more you will thank yourself later!

Damn... it's like a real life Transformer. I was wondering if it comes in the same color or can you get custom colors that'd be badass a blue one.

We have a globe and love it now that we re-engineered the replacement height adjustment for them. The parts they sent to fix it were a joke and bent during the first trip. They actually listened to our feedback and fixed the problem. Heavy bitch but hauls well

I wish you showed how Prep. shot-blasts & primers the inside of the fabricated square sections, square & round tubes. That shot-blast really does a number on the concrete floor. I wonder if instead of pouring a new concrete floor if they can clean the floor really well & pour epoxy instead? Wonder if the epoxy can better stand the shot abuse? OR if they could lay sacrificial panels of an appropriate thermoset or thermoplastic material on a new concreate floor & just replace the panels after a month or three? Does Globe have it's own Structural & Weld Engineers & the pricey FEA simulation software or are those duties contracted out?

Pretty cool stuff. I've never seen an extension trailer going down the road like that. I've never seen a Globe trailer either, but as someone who is fabrication minded I wouldn't have a problem investing in a Globe trailer if I was in need of a lowboy. They look to be very well designed and they've corrected a some issues I've seen on a couple trailers that were common problems with the deck, side rails, and cross members. You can't prevent all the damage from years of dumbasses severely overloading 35 ton tandem axle trailers. But you can build a solid freaking trailer that will stand up to the abuse it is rated for. Even if it only has to go a few miles down the road, loading a trailer 20 tons over it's rated capacity is hell on the unit and I don't recommend trying it.
