Dear Brue, A lot of thanks for your clear and very well explained tutorial. Yesterday, I successfully managed to replace the HDD (100% utilisation error i couldn't fix) by a SSD. The upgrade is amazing. I'd also thank you as this kind of tutorial allow us to extend the life of the laptop instead of buying a new one each 4-5 years. My 5-years laptop has just begun a new chapter, thanks to you 🙂

@@JonathanHernandez-hf4jj I replace my 1To HDD by a Samsung-500 Go SSD (enough space with this latter) so I cannot say. I noticed that CPU tends to be more used but nothing unusual. I hear in other videos that the most important point is the 2.5" SSD + suitable caddy. Nothing about a max storage. Anyway, you may also replace the HDD by a SSD, then use the HDD in the optical driver slot.

I upgraded my 4gb RAM to 8gb and the 1tb harddrive to 1tb SSD and it is a world of difference. I'm now able to keep up with simple class assignments,whereas before I was always still loading, holding the class up. Next I'm going to remove the disc drive and use it as an extra harddrive from the one I replaced. Idk if its going to make a difference though. I'd appreciate anything helpful in the comments section.👍

If replacing the existing drive then you'll need to either clone the contents across or clean install Windows to it. If adding an additional drive then you'd need to initialize and format the new drive.

No well some models have 4gb pre installed so you can add another one like 16GB ram and in total you will have 20gb ram since one ram slot is already allocated

I wouldn't recommend it - if the battery is pierced it could short and cause a fire. I would remove and safely dispose of the battery and replace it with a good quality replacement part.

SSD are way faster than some people imagine, and most people never really use even half the storage of a half TB drive. So for some people speed might matter more than storage, Especially since the data that is backup can be stored on clouds or an external drive

@@mae6626 the kind of Drive doesnt matter, only the space in the case and the capability of the motherboard do. useually laptop can only hold one Drive, but if you have an DVD Reader, you migth be able to exchange it to another drive. Cables connection (SATA) is the same

The contents of the system will be on the hard drive - you can either clone the contents of the drive to the SSD using a program like True Image, or carrying out a clean install of Windows 10 and copying your data to it.

Yes, can add in a 500GB SSD no problem. If retaining the 2TB drive I'd move that to an optical bay caddy and install the SSD in the main slot inside.

If the battery has expanded I would recommend CAREFULLY removing it and taking it to a recycling centre which accepts lithium ion batteries. If in doubt have a professional remove it.

To prevent accidental powering of the board whilst removing or installing RAM which may damage the board and/or RAM, and lead to data corrupton on the drive. It's not necessarily essential, but as a safety precaution that takes seconds to do it's daft not to.

You could in theory get a small shock if you were really silly, but voltages are very low (the power supply gives the laptop 19V DC, not 110/240V AC) so the risk of electrocution is pretty much zero.

Hi sir, I'm planning on upgrading my Lenevo ideapad laptop to 8gb ram with my adata 4gb ram from my acer, does Lenevo ideapad 320 supports the ram of Acer laptops?

Do yourself a favor and just get a 16GB memory and this laptop will be updated to 20GB memory 19.7 useable. I just did this today and this laptop is now wonderful, not to mention, I did also upgraded to a 500GB Crucial SSD drive

Hi . a good video guide ! but i want to ask about ram upgrade.I have ideapad 320 too but when i put a 8gb ram 2133mhz in it the laptops only can run about 8 minutes before the blue screen pop ups . Can i know if you have the same problem or not. How to fix it?

Same probleme I have 4gb and I put an other 8 gb and then I have bsod . I think it was the wrong one . On this case you should ask a specialist before buying any ram

I just upgraded to a 500GB SSD drive from a 1TB HDD drive, I don't nearly use close that that much storage. World of difference on how much faster this laptop operates now. I am waiting to install the 16GB memory stick, as I have read others with this laptop upgraded to the 16GB stick along with the 4GB onboard memory and now have 20GB without any problems

It depends on the model you have - this was a Pentium Silver based version of it which uses very little power. The Core i3 and above models will have a fan as the processor generates more heat.

Hey I also have a lenovo ideapad 320-14IKB with SSD 256gb standard and 8gb ram, but have upgraded to samsung 870 QVO 2TB ;-) and it works. Do you think it would be able to handle 16 GB of RAM?

No. Your only option would be to replace your mainboard, along with bits like installing a fan.
