My Macbook Pro 2015 is broken tonight, the keyboard and trackpad is not working. Then I found this video, it's very helpful to see the how the anatomy of the macbook. I disassembled my macbook and saw the cable half unplugged. Plug it back and the keyboard trackpad working again. Thank you so much! 😄

Awesome instructions. Worked great - however an explanation on how to remove the rivets for the keyboard would have been helpful. After searching online I found a suggestion of using a screwdriver and hammer, I used a paint scraper and hammered slightly upward to pop the rivets out. Only messed up twice at the start, with the rivet sheared off at the top and left in place.

Glad it helped! I got fairly lucky with the one I did and didn't have many left in there, few enough that they weren't worth removing, but in other jobs I used a small flat metal screwdriver and hammer.

Helped a lot. My advice did the rivets is use a hammer and a straight head Philips screwdriver, I got them all out that way.

Can I boot up they macbook with an external keyboard if I unplug the internal keyboard? If so is there a keyboard that fits the requirements of having a power button e.g.? I'm onto fitting my old macbook into a monitor and I dont know if there are modules to replace the internal keyboard, monitor and battery / afaik battery replacement with a solid voltage exists. Edit: I could just leave the old keyboard in place, unplug it, plug a new one in and make the power button accesable as I dont care how the macbook looks as it will hide inside a monitor case anyway

Is it really necessary to remove the battery? It kinds looks like it could be done without that step. I changed my battery last year and oh my god...what a process.

I replaced keyboard after watching this video, but it doesn't work. What's the problem? The keyboard cable doesn't fit well. Is this a problem? Is it okay to remove the tape attached to the keyboard cable? Will it work if I change it?

If you get it out without damaging it then it can be reused. It costs so little that I just buy one with the keyboard and don't worry about it.

Does the backlight prevent spilled Coca Cola from reaching the logic board? I opened a coke bottle which sprayed a little over my Retina 2014 keyboard ... I'm trying to make the computer heat up so it will evaporate

Hi there, thanks for the detailed explanation. I could replace the keyboard with a new but i got only a black screen i think keyboard isn't responding. It starts automatically and doesn't shut down even though if i press hold the power button more than 10 seconds. Do you have any idea what might cause this scenario? Before this, I was able to replace my M1 laptops keyboard without experiencing any issues but this time couldn't make it.

Its a pain, but it beats the plastic rivets a lot of laptops of the age used where you had to replace the whole palmrest.
