I live on the South coast of the UK. I grow mine in pots and overwinter them in an unheated greenhouse. November to April under glass, May to October outside.

Hello Bill , we dig in the plant in its pot during the season and dig it out afterwords cutting the newly formed roots off , we keep it somewhere dry an out of the frost in winter until the freezing period is over. Sure hope global warming happens so that we can keep our non hardy plants the whole year round in solid ground.

for big growth this seems the way to go, I grow mine in huge (HEAVY) pots, so I don't get this level of growth in exchange for the lazy ease of taking them into the basement in the fall. I need to try this way.

When you replant your awesome collection of plants at your new place, you will have an awesome backyard jungle. I live propagating plants as well. It's fun to see them grow.

like i may have shared before, my neighbour has his in the ground and i have mine in a pot. his is like a tree in the ground and it doesnt die, it always comes back in the spring. when you move, just keep it outdoors all year round but in the ground. i have zerospace in my house for even a small seedling so i can forget about bringing in my 5' tall brug. i already have one each 0f the yellow and purple daturas in. i will overwinter my brug in the garage like you. next year i will find a permanent spot for that giant in my backyard

Hey Bill, great video! I'm doing the same thing with my brugsmansia in a couple of weeks. It's my first year growing them, but I heard you can treat them like fig trees in the winter. So once we get a few more frosts I'll stick it in my cold cellar. I'm thankful it's in a pot!

Hello there! I'm trying to find out some information about what to do with my Angel's Trumpet during the winter. I live in Indiana so I have to put mine in the garage over the winter. I saw that you've been growing them for years and wondered if you had any advice for a first timer. My email address is jessiewhite2009@yahoo.com, if you could spare a few moments to share your wisdom I would be ever so grateful! Thank you!

That's a very nice Brugmansia. All my seedlings I started in February and March will be under grow lights because they can't go completely dormant this Winter. My ones I started from cuttings I purchased on the FB group I'm in will go dormant and only watered enough to keep them alive. I have about 17 seedlings and 7 I started from cuttings. I have one bud on one seedling. I have two different crosses in my seedlings. Angels Skyline X Wuppergold and then Dali Lama X Unknown. The second one was pollinated by nature so we don't know both parents. Is yours just a NOID or a named variety?

Did you get any blooms? Doesn’t look like it
@PlantzNThings3 жыл бұрын
This Brugs was not very floriferous .. could have been my care... not enough food or water. I would only see a handful of blooms at any given time from late summer into fall... I've had others that bloomed much more freely

🙈🙈🙈I am start learning about Brugmansia, I plant some cuttings in October and yesterday some of there leaves get frost 😣
@PlantzNThings3 жыл бұрын
As long as the plant didn't freeze through it should survive... some stems might die back... but thats normal

Hi Bill. I live in the Dallas Texas area. I just got a brugmansia from a friend. She had it in a pot. Could I plant it in the ground and would it regrow every year? I don't know much about it. Thanks for sharing! 😊

It sure did... I did this for a few years... this past year I took a few cuttings and let the big plant die outside over winter.... it was getting too big and crazy... so I'll start fresh

I live in southeast Michigan..it can get minus 20 here. My basement gets in the 20's. I feel that is too cold for mine. Am i correct? It is my second year growing these. I brought in last years and kept it in my living room. This spring I took it outside. It did not bloom. Does it need a frost like lilacs do?
