What's more scary than their lack of offensive confidence is the inability to beat good to great goalies. It's like their shooting is so simplistic and easily telegraphed that smart tenders figure them out right away. Not a good recipe for playoff success. Last night was a regression. Truly reminded me of the Monty portion of the season, in terms of pure frustrating play.

B's have a tough stretch of 7 games coming up. Most likely they're on the outside of the playoffs after it.

Indeed. I was checking the schedule yesterday. In fact, it will be tougher right up until Feb 8; for a full month. Of course, all of the games get more difficult after that as teams reshuffle and ready for the big dance. I am wondering how many of the really good teams (eg TBL, LAS, MIN, NJD, FLA, COL, WIN, et al) use their #1 or #2 (goalie) on the offensively hapless Bruins? 🤨

Great show as always! My observations after 40 games are as follows. Hampus Lindholm is really missed. McAvoy struggles as the 1D. He just does and I am not sure how that can be remedied. Bruins still need a 3C. Coyle can play that role well, but he is not a 1 or 2C. If Coyle goes back to 3C, then a RW is really needed, so is Lysell the guy? if not, is Frederic moved to bring said guy in? Swayman has stepped it up as everyone thought, but he is still not where he was the last 2 seasons. Bs only have 1 finisher (Pasta) and he isn't finishing like we've come to know, so where does Sweeney find that guy while Pasta comes around?

As far as McAvoy, I definitely think he was overhyped when he first came in. I’ve never seen him take over a game, or even just change the tone. He’s good, but a second pairing kinda guy I think.

How did they land on MacAvoy from the great that always anchored the Bruins defense? I'll bet he'd love to play for NY. Make the trade- either team! And the Swayman/Korpisalo tandem? Lots of offense and a decent goalie can come back from that. I am just not seeing that lot bringing anything except a paycheck and bottom third seating in the standings for years.

What did Sweeney build here. My god. Outside of 63 and 88 there is no skill. They can't make a pass. Lindholm keeps passing it in 88s skates. 3rd line team

Sway and the bench laughing it up in the 3rd as they’re about to lose to one of the worst teams in the league is just a bad look. Top to bottom an unlikable team. No chemistry or cohesion. Trade anyone not named Marchand and shake up this group. Coyle is not a 2RW on a serious team.

Bruins fans should write that down and keep in in their pocket. For example, I am listing a season where said goalie shows up out of shape after a huge pay raise then jovially plays like a #2 all season.

The Swayman, MacAvoy, Korpisalo tax is costing this potential group offense that is essential to win a hockey game. I'd be looking at what you can get now for that lot. A decent goalie, another good defense-man, and a few good forwards might be a much better solution going forward. Meanwhile, the two teams chasing the Bruins (who have played more games) are not in the red are playing more to their potential. TBL will win the division; best team in the lot. OTT is a more well balanced team than the Bruins; can score and protect. However, MTL has a legitimate PP. They already know how to beat the Bruins- just draw a few penalties and let them have it as their PP is fine. And they are trending upwards. PIT is a goalie away from catching up..make the trade! Of course, the Bruins..are not any of that. It's really hard to pay attention to their games..waste of energy. Sayin'... 🤔

@@Bruins-vq5ey Point. However, the teams with the very good PP can form an easy strategy to beat the Bruins. Interestingly, the rock'em sock'em bit seemed to fall apart and go away once they got penalised so often. Maybe it might have worked had they executed differently? At that junction, they were not only missing a PP , but (formerly) one the league's best PK units. Yeah, when it all comes undone at once...not the intended results. Now, it appears that they went the other way; are too laid back. Can they afford to be? Like most, I am perplexed by this lot. A gamer is a gamer is a gamer. Got gamers? I do not believe they have more than a few. Perhaps the recruiters missed that bit? 🤔

Why all the line changes? What the fuck. They have a formula and play great for a month and all of a sudden they want ONE player to "get going" so they ruin every other line for it? It's Bruce Cassidy all over again. Also swayman handedly cost them the game by passing the puck into a pile of rangers when the whole left side of the ice was empty for 200 feet! If they keep the original lines they went with for a month they're fine.

@Bruins-vq5ey yeah, no arguments here...its just a shame that in a tight game he gives up an unnecessary chance when they arent getting 5 goals a game. Instead of hoping to score more while excusing the mistake entirely. I love sway and am not saying he should be benched or sit two games but in this instance it was just his fault by means of the mistake. Just unfortunate. He steals games for the Bruins too but he sort of gave this one up in terms of going back up the wrong side. But one reason i love Swayman is that he learns very quickly. He won't do that probably all season i would guess.
