The costumes here legitimately look better than most modern fantasy/historical shows. In fantasy shows, the production usually sticks to an easily mass produced design for armor so you get this very manufactured and artificial look and feel to them with entire armies wearing the same armor.

The difference is these people clearly have an interest and passion in what they do, modern productions do as little as possible to achieve the bare minimum. i am part of the undead flesh, a monk of a burnt down monastery who seeks revenge and destruction for the heretics, who've done this. my group can be seen at 00:18, i'm the dude on the left :D never made it in a video before! the costumes from most participants are breathtakingly awesome. first time i've been there i was unable to do anything but watching and drooling over the epicness and yes, others inspire you to be more creative, work on your costume, come up with new things/mods/additons. its a fantastic hobby and a huge creative outlet!

So how does a larp work? Are there rules? Is there an overall script? Is it played out like a competitive thing between the two armies that are fighting here? Or do people just role play and swing swords until they're bored? If anybody can spoon feed me because this is interesting, just don't understand how it works.

This is a good question. I will try a short answer from my point of view but I'm sure great players will come here and add their insight. First of all, it's a game. There is a 'meta-story' in a universe, players -each one with abilities chosen by themselves-, non-player characters (players who are like pawns for the game masters with also their own abilities and role) and the game masters themselves. Each one plays its role inside a little story (each player has one with a background) inside a bigger story (the little group in which the player plays) inside a bigger story (the camp in which the player lives) inside a bigger story (the interaction between groups in a camp and with the different camps), in a bigger story (the universe with all its background), in a story (the big story of the event itself). Our own role here is to try to capture moments and craft them into a video and compose music. You only have here a little glimpse of what I told before. If you scroll in our other videos, you can see other things, like an orc ceremony, a song of the undead people, rituals in a wood ... as all those aspects give life to the game, a culture. Yeah, Germany goes hard on awsome costumes. It´s much more theatric and less system focused than it was back then, and still is to a degree in for examplke the US. So there is a strong focus on look, style and imersion, because you need to be more convincing as there isn´t that much of counting points or optimising for equpment values. If you rock up in full plate and an awesome ensamble no one is going to look at you if you are a bit harder to take down than the rules technically allow. Because we prefer the preformance feeling of the fight, not really focusing on the competetive sinde. The whole philosophy is "play for drama" if you want to boil it down.

Many have tactical formations. Some of the NPCs always fight a certain way, which allows the PCs to adapt their combat strategies. There are many tactics on the battlefield on both sides.

it's impossible to tell the whole story in a short video like this one. As each and every player has its own story, and there are thousands of players, in hundreds of groups/camps, so much is happening simultaneously that no-one cans capture that in video. Actually, we tell our own story with the images that were relevant for us AND the music that we composed. I could say that the videos we make are as many gateways to trigger your imagination and lead you to places where everything is possible, beautiful and terrible at the same time ;-).

They "fighting" toy weapon.Think this theatral thing crash all atmosphere .Tolkyenists from StPetersburg in 90s fight in forests with steal weapons and wooden hammers.And it get blood, but it had be more atmospheric.But hear , adult man and woomens in chainmails fear of bakelit?

@@vladtepes8057 Well, that's your point of view. There is indeed a theatrical side inside the game, which, in my opinion is great. The characters experience fear and each player embodies a character with its characteristics. And this is not to be confused with Behourt.

@@vladtepes8057 It's a game. Between people who are not actually Orcs and Undead and Knights, who live normal lives outside of the game. A LARP weapon can hurt a lot and even cause injury if you swing with full force, especially polearms. If you want real blood, go watch an MMA fight. If you pull that shit in a LARP you'll be packing your stuff and heading home REAL fast.
