Out of nowhere KZbin decided to recommend this to me, not knowing I was there in 1996 for that first battle. Who knew that this little weekend event would grow to include to include dozens of buildings and thousands of people. Congrats to the organisers for maintaining the energy from that first event. It was a blast back then and it looks like it still is!

I was there in 1996, during its first year, when I was 16. It was the most immersive experience of my life. As part of the organization, we had to switch characters because there weren't enough of us to keep the story going if we stayed in just one role the whole weekend. It was amazing-still one of the top experiences of my life. I'm thrilled to see how much it has grown, far beyond anything I could have imagined. I live just 30 minutes away now, and after watching your video, I'm excited to return and enjoy it as a full visitor. Thank you!

Back in the day, say 40 years ago, my pals in SCA would look to enhance their armor kit by finding suitable sources of metal plates. Curiously enough, several local speed signs went missing. The quality and finish of armor and costuming has advanced beyond those early days - such that they rival or exceed movie props. Great video

As a veteran, personally, I am against wet-wipes of any kind. Nothing beats soap and water to skin. If you wet wipe, do that in between regular showering, to make sure you don't break out in rash or in a bad hygiene situation. Some get away with delaying showing, but trust me, you smell worse to others than you do yourself and you don't ever want to experience prickly heat (sweat born rash that feels like IV needles being stabbed an inch or two deep into your back over and over)

And really a lot of alcohol (optional) :P I participated many years (I live in Quebec). Was awesome to see this video. There are of course much more than four guilds, but I am guessing those are four that welcome travelers via The Voyage North plan. My experience was also all in French, so maybe they are four big English speaking guilds.

There's so many guilds. I believe well over 200? But, yes the four mentioned in the video are part of The Voyage North.

I have to say, I'm not a LARPing guy, nor do I have intent in going to those kind of events. But god damn, your video is super interesting, one of the clearest video I've ever seen. You've outlined every question anyone might have about the event itself with great details. The event looks really nice, looks like Tomorrowland for LARPing haha.

You know, somehow non German Larp "hollidays" always seem friendlier. On Drachenfest we kad the "Knüppeltag" (Cludgel Day). Where a big blob of people wandered the streets of Aldradach to beat anyone not wearing a hat. xD But it got prohibited by the (in time) city officials because it was "too disruptive". We still got the night of long knives where everyone on the field at night is fair game. :D And in replacement of the Knüppeltag we now got a sporing event, the "Steckenkrieg" (Stick War) which always devolved into a giant violent brawl. Weapons are obviously forbidden, but well, pans, ladles, wood planks and bricks are not weapons. They actually hire guards to protect the game from disruption of the hooligans. There is quiet an hilarious image from this year I remember of someone beating a guard on the grund screaming "We are peaceful what are you!" Here is a video from 2018, thats not a battle, its a sporting event: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2GpiJpvm6-WY6c

I've seen the Kappa brothers in battle on Tallien Adventures channel in battle with massive hammers bigger than even guys twice there size would have trouble using. But their satyr whiskey and bread characters are THE BEST by far. did you guys get chased by orks during gnome night? that leather guild cape and dagger are beautiful. 33:30 YO, MY MAN TALLIAN ADVENTURES!
