Schulz flummoxed me and the imagery of his writing is deeply soulful and redolent with oneiric passages of which description becomes precise actualized images and atmospheres ,in ways I can't understand I can feel his environs latent with so much otherworldly passion ,thank you for an epicurian evening God Bless Bruno Schulz an artist in the most authentic sense

An illuminating discussion! I especially liked the discussion of living in language as if in exile.

A brilliant and enlightening conversation. Thank you! The Schulz passage about mannequins made me think of Isaiah 44:9-17. Too theological?

Not too theological at all. Schulz had a particular interest in idolatry and published a folio of cliché-verres, the title of which is usually translated “The Book of Idolatry.”
