You need to swap pads between scratch removal and polishing. Each compound needs a completely different type of pad and firmness. Not to mention that you are contaminating the polishing with the scratch compound. You “might” first try to wet sand the rails with a pretty fine grit (1200-1500) to remove the deep scratches. Then a decent rubbing/budding compound (Mother’s Ultimate works extremely well) then polish, then wax (each step uses a softer pad reserved for that compound exclusively).

After speaking to others on AZ billiards they said the last thing you want to do is wet sand or use anything aggressive on these. The super smooth pad was what was recommended to me by the people who’ve caused some damage. I’m super happy with how they turned out, some guys said you can easily cause a haze if you go aggressive at all. So I wanted to just take it easy.

Can you explain what olive oil does to the rails? how does it improve their performance?

It won’t improve their performance, it’ll just help prolong how long they last. As dry rot is the number 1 reason cushions go bad.

Best thing to do it adjusting the subrail to correctly accommodate the k55. But I high end k55 will play pretty well without adjusting the subrail. Key is measuring cushion height beforehand

You can’t get a kit, however you could pull all the chrome and have it powered coated!

I prefer the III…. If you put new cushions on and put 1/4” facings on to adjust the shape of the pocket they play great!
