I’ve met people- mostly southern- who use the word to refer to Caucasian hair when it’s “frizzy”, or the effect of sleeping on wet hair, for example. I don’t think these people meant anything offensive by it at all. These here are good, decent people. Plus, that is sort of the nature of a living language… it’s organic and changing all the time. Years from now that may be the only usage anyone remembers at all.

@@staciepaulsen5588 ….. I’m over here cracking up… but not sure if you are serious or… Hmm. Ok. 1. Google’s dictionary? They have their own? Or do you care to share which site you specifically looked at. 2. You are correct, »in the UK« people do refer you to diaper’s as nappy’s. I’m sure you know that this couple isn’t located in the UK. 3. I’m sure that you also saw the US definition of the word. I’m sure you saw how “Google’s dictionary” said that the term is, “…often regarded as offensive when used by nonblack people”. 4. This couple lives in the United States 5. Is it your presumption that’s he is saying, “Brushing Alix DIAPER DIAPER hair”? Is it likely that this US based couple is using the UK definition? Does that make sense to you? At all? All you did is prove my point. CULTURE & CONTEXT MATTER. If they lived in the UK, then there would be a higher likelihood that they would use this term in different ways. Yet and still, even if they were in the UK, they are TALKING ABOUT HAIR. I believe you know exactly what they meant. I wasted my time over explaining this to you, in the most Christ-like way that I can muster at the moment, because this matters. Also the fact that you attempted to weaponize your ignorance is so… ugh… on brand.
@jenc32595 ай бұрын
@staciepaulsen5588 people don't like when you show them English language. Just because the term has been used in other ways does not mean when used properly it is offensive. If it offends scuttle on. The very notion that everyone should watch their language to make others feel good is insane. Learn to feel good in yourself and what others do, doesn't affect you. That's peak performance. Sadly, a bunch of people can't do that. They must perpetuate victimhood. It's pathetic. People need to grow and move on. Everyone go read the book They Were White And They Were Slaves. See how white people evolved from being slaves themselves. How we ended it here in America. How we never allowed any people to keep us down. It would be best if EVERYONE read it. To learn what isn't taught in our brainwashing schools. And for everyone who is offended.... it starts at home. So long as rappers are pushing the other offensive N word and nappy is used in there songs, people will not take the issue seriously. We don't have special language we can each use. That's not how free speech works.
