The servo saver unscrewed itself upon impact there thanks too its lower quality i suppose it saved the servo still lol. The silver ring it's just screwing that down by hand, which you can do without taking it apart by the looks of it. You can try a bit of blue loctite just above the ring and see if it holds it in place better screwing it up over the loctite and then back down too where you want it too sit. Also do upgrade the esc too a 120a or 150a one too run 4s lipo in this. 2150 kv should be a bit better on 4s for a 1:8th scale buggy even rtr stuff just make sure too get one with a programming card available from banggood as well ofc and you can kind of do a mini review of the esc in the video. Also 3670 size motor should pull fairly low amount of amps on 4s so a good 120a esc should do the job, the racerstar 120a on 4s is a fairly good pick, its 40 usd for the esc & like 7 usd for the programming card.

I can totally understand where Abby is coming from, I've owned a few ZD cars 1:8 1:10 and 1:16 They all seem to have good performance, handeling and drive so well but also seem to have constant durability issues. I've given them so many chances and it's like a love hate relationship. I think they are always trying to improve which is a good thing although I feel they need to spend a little more effort in product design development and testing for longevity instead of just trying to make the best spec and performance for the $. I love your review but I don't feel a few runs out of the box is a true indication of how good an RC is. Would really like to see some more follow up reviews with your RC cars with maybe a final review 6 months later in order to have a true honest opinion of a vechile

Hey Saylors! Troy from Troy's Hobbies here! I know you guys have your opinions on ZD Racing products. Just wanted to let you know that I share many of the same feelings about their brand as well. I feel when a person is considering buying one of these cars they should go into it with the understanding that the car is more or less a glorified roller chassis with electronics included. The vehicles are not tuned well or tightened up properly from factory, so always do a full disassembly with their cars. Lock tight everything going into metal and do some good tuning with oils in the diffs and you will have a solid product. Out of the box, though...... lemon.

Abby is absolutely correct! Don't trust ZD! I have a ZD truck that has spent 80% of ownership waiting for replacement parts! It is currently waiting for a new replacement part. The parts are cheap but it takes forever to get them. FYI buy more than 1 just in case! I also have that same esc on my truck. I loved it until recently when it started failing. I have to push the button over and over to get it to turn on. It also no longer turns the power off. Fortunately I am going to unplug it anyway so that's not a big deal. When it is running it is great, unfortunately parts keep breaking!

So - I agree with Abby, and I agree with Nate. The first trucks we bought when we got back into RC were ZD Thunders. I like the performance, I like the look, I like the feel of the controller. BUT - - - - - Every time we took them out for the first month something broke, or fell off, and even a controller stopped working. I was reaching the point that I didn't want to spend another dollar on parts, and even tried to talk Nate and Abby into selling me the one they reviewed - just for parts. I don't recommend buying them if you aren't comfortable replacing parts every time you run them, but if You're like most RC'ers and enjoy a challenge, and like modifying for reliability, and or performance, they're not a bad choice.

About the loose steering servo saver. There is a metal screw that can be tightened, which compresses the spring underneath. Tighten the screw a bit to get a firm and accurate response. Donot tighten the screw fully, otherwise there is no point of the steering servo saver

The way she was ramping, we should call her Airborne Abby! I enjoy the slow-motion video, about the only thing I would like is to have some low-perspective slow-mo video of the ground vehicles...maybe get a sturdy selfie-stick so you don't have to bend over...Also, a cool shot would be to get the ramp, put the phone behind the ramp, facing the iPhone away from the ramp so that the vehicle comes from "overhead" and land down in front of you. Hope you people had a wonderful holiday!

Hi Saylors. Watched this video with an open mind. I'm kinda partial to more of the racing line of vehicles as opposed to bashing but this is a very good vehicle for the price point. Compared to the Arrma Typhon I think this takes it as everything on the Typhon is a composite material as opposed to aluminum. Shocks, shock towers chassis as well as other parts on the Typhon is composite. Not necessarily a bad thing as it might have a little give to it and take a beating and not break. Thanks for the honest review. Dave

An extra $80 for an Arrma Tyhpon 3s. $6 more for a 26 tooth pinion and you're travelling at over 80 mph. It's a no brainer!

There's no slipper clutch it has a centre diff. The diffs on mine are set up quite nice (I've recently bought the Pirates 3 9020 roller) The rear shocks needed topping up with shock fluid as they were only half full. little bit of 80w and they're good now. The fronts felt fine. The real weak point from what I can see it the piddly little motor mount. It's only held on with two screws to the bottom of the chassis and that also the adjustment and it's moved twice on me now (once at speed which led to a bodyshell destroying crash) I have read though that the mount from the Truggy/monster truck version of this chassis fits. It replaces the rear part of the centre diff 'cage' and is fixed by three screws instead (as the adjustable bit is on the bracket rather than the whole bracket moving) I got one on order from Ali Express along with a new shell. Even with these 'hop ups' I'm still about at half the cost of an Arrma Typhon 3S. and the gearing/esc/motor are handling some 70C 5000 CNHL 4S batts a treat

I depends what the slow-mo is. When a car crashes it’s an asset to see what all the car went through. It helps to see how it handles landings and it cool in dirt, sand or snow to see what the tires are actually doing. Maybe a wheelie or a little tire spinning. Just normal driving in slow-mo would get old. Maybe a short speed ramp now and then would be fun.

It is a really good buy I would say. Not really meant for Monster 4x4ing Like my Stampede or even my Slash. Although I purchased the 3s lipo's. My Trucks did not come with batteries. I don't think anyone starting out in the hobby spending just over $200 should complain. Just looking at all the aluminum it sure looks quite durable. And a 4x4 to boot. Very good buy I would think. I have had to put much more money into my trucks just upgrading plastic broken parts. I truly love my Stampede for the ground clearance. Although it does not have the center differential like my Slash. I have experience with it, that helps greatly in controlling rollovers etc. I like what I see, and oh it would be easy to become biased when you have run much higher-end quality vehicles? Ps. Good and bad in every brand and model. Just like the vehicles, we drive every day. I like your videos, keep up the open opinions on your testing quality, and price-wise.

There's will known plastic parts that needs to upgraded....such as metal steering knockles ( which other more expensive brands will have. Other metal parts...such as cups, dogbones are made of different metal grade material...it's the samething if you purchase screws or hardware..ect from home depot verse going to an industrial sale outlet... My HPI SAVAGE, TA RC8, MGT 4.6...cost $500 for many reasons. The have stronger metal parts and more precision bearings..ect. But I have 4076-4092...4s-6s.....120A-150A esc in them. It'll snap weak metal parts in a heart beat. And PLASTIC CRAP like twigs.lmao The damn metal CVD upgrade on my T maxx is $120...for reasons.lol My $110 ZD brushless on a 60A esc 3s 50C 5000 mah...will outrun your POS over priced slash...all day long....on stock metal dogbones.lmao

@@oneeyemonster3262 Agree 100% The Velineon VXL-3s Brushless 3500 motor is a good motor. Agree all Traxass stuff is pricey. I have Power Hoby pro lipo 5200 50C batteries they shred parts. And oh yea my Stampede with the high gearing set up. And 17mm buggy tires blow my slash away. Much lighter, I would never have bought the slash if I would have known prior to owning the slash. Its advantage is the long-wheelbase at higher speeds. I actually prefer speed runs over bashing. My vehicles break enough accidentally. Lol

@@scottkaluza4156 I cant run any of my 1/8 scale buggie on pavement..it'll wear out the tires super duper fast.lol Too much power... Anyways.. $230 for RTR 1/8 buggie isnt bad for buggie type driving. Its' only a 3s system. Not over power to wear out parts.. but if you were on a budget and wanted a 1/8 buggie..it would work. My modify king motor and MGT 4.6 brushless are 14.75 wheel base. The MGT has 23mm hex ( 1/5 scale) on it because the stock are only 14mm like the T maxx..it's a heavy truck...that's why have 4092 1600kv 150A on it. My T maxx are on 4076..modified using 1/8 buggie center differental. 120A 4s 5000 50C.
