Brushless Kyosho Mad Van First Bash

I'm back with more Kyosho Mad Van action! This time it's brushless. The new Kyosho Mad Van comes with a brushless motor and geared to run it on 2s. For 2s....It's very quick. I bought mine at my local Virginia Beach Hobbytown for $279. At that price, it's pretty tough to beat the fun that it offers. As you'll hear, I did have a weird landing that introduced some noise. I'm eventually going to have to tear it down and see what happened, but for now...the bash continues. It didn't seem to effect the performance.

It is definitely an impressive truck. Love how it seems to handle bud. Now that click? Well everything seems to be mentioned other than. I know that with the scx10. There are pins that run through the driveshaft at the transmission. Sometimes they back out and THAT clicks as it rotates... Good luck

I had a wierd noise similar to this on my slash 4×4. Ended up being a very tiny rock under that center driveshaft that drives the front wheels.

Funnily enough, there are a couple of KZbinrs that have mentioned “the noise”. Tomley RC from the UK defo mentions it. Great video though pal. It looks like a blast. Might get one as company for my MJX 14210 v2 Hypergo

Hi. Quick question on 2s vs 3s please. I know this is sold as a 2s car but apparently the ESC can tolerate 3s? I already have plenty of 3s batteries, so rather than having to buy a 2s just for this, could I not use a 3s, and then just turn down the throttle dual rate to bring the speed / electrical load back down to behaving like a 2s car (and it will then last longer for trail runs). I run my 'pretty' cars fairly gently, so I'm not worried about getting max speeds or straining the diffs. Is my logic ok, or am I missing something? Thanks 👍

The diffs only have little grease and off to side , add light weight oil

I don’t know what Kyosho makes there plastics out of but they a super durable. I can’t believe the hits this thing takes and no breaks.

I think their plastics are made from recycled Stretch Armstrong toys from decades ago 😂 They are unbelievably durable and quite flexible

Love this little truck but I won't be getting one. With the problems I've had with the brushed, I can almost garauntee the same or worse again. Kyosho's part support is easily the worst I've ever seen. Shim those diffs!

That noise is likely the ring and pinion in the differentials... I destroyed both of mine. Kyosho offers an upgrade to the upgraded one that comes on the VE. Sucks... But oh well, gotta keep this crazy thing moving! LoL

Tony on mine it was pinion because I stopped right away made impossible to detect , till I let rip and strip good , only after hours going through diffs and clutch lol

Is the centre driveshaft bent a bit? It could be flapping about as it spins round.

That’s what I thought it might be. Looked a little bent, but it was weird that happens when slowly pushing on the ground. Need to check the other driveshafts. Back left in particular since it landed weird on that side if I remember
