How do you love rap when rap doesn’t love you back? From Rico Nasty’s harassment from toxic Carti fans, to Saucy Santana's unapologetically femme aesthetics in a queerphobic industry, to the assault case that put Megan Thee Stallion’s entire image on trial, each episode of Louder Than A Riot - the second season of our investigative hip-hop podcast - unpacks the unspoken rules of rap that hold the entire culture back. Tap in to our first episode at n.pr/louder-season-2.

This guy is fantastic. It's amazing what a good musician can do, given very little to work with. When I used to jam with jazz guys, sometimes we did a head-cutting kind of thing that was a "one-chord challenge," which vamped a single chord with a turnaround to see how many ideas you could pull out without changes. This guy goes one further -- one string, one line, no chords. And it sounds fantastic.

I just found Brushy today, and I am hooked. I love the feeling in his voice. And I really think the once string repetitive melody really adds to the sound.

This first song is completely underrated and deserves way more views. Brushy absolutely killing it mean riff all soul.

He did the most songs’ bass progression, “classically”. And the point is his great groove. I guess he gets a whole band’s sound in his head, and he uses his own way to explain that. Cause you can hear he sings some fake phrase between rap phrases, sounds like there is another chorus singing for him. And he use his own words scatting to performance such as a guitar solo.

Pretty obvious but ok 👍 😂 Of course it’s all about rhythm and voice performance, the guitar is a bass and a drum, you’re totally right about highlighting his songs structure, very classical. All the magic comes from his very good arrangements and his multiples vocal embellishments

People are missing the whole point in this guy's playing. It's not about the technical difficulty or virtuosity but rather just the soul coming out of this guy. I don't think this was supposed to be a technical display of his guitar skills but rather a show of music which is a combination of singing and playing.
@jamesha1756 жыл бұрын
i think nobody is missing that point

Interesting. I found this displays very competent technique. I just cant understand why he is selling his creativity so short by giving himself such a limited tool box
