9:09 if only those walls & especially that window could speak the stories they would have…. I’ve been fascinated with The Kid ever since I was a little kid and first read about Billy The Kid with my Grandpa. We’d sit in his chair together and he always had old western books & 10cent novels on the famous outlaws and lawmen of the old west. I was just drawn to Billy The Kid and when I was old enough to understand what it meant when an old man rode out of hiding in Hico Texas and said “I am William H. Roberts aka William H. Bonney aka William Antrum aka Billy The Kid. Then to hear not a single person in power at that time accepted that claim or even gave the man the time of day to present his story to them and then to hear that when he finally got a meeting with the governor it was a media circus which in turn made Brushy extremely scared and panicked bc it was said before the meeting NO ONE WOULD BE THERE. Instead he walked into a room of reporters and naysayers causing him to freeze up and panick leading to a stroke and ultimately his death following that year! Idc how fantastic a story sounds I never call it out as not true until I hear it from the person themselves. It makes me wonder why they wouldn’t event sit down with him and at least listen. Let him show his scars, tell them things no one would know unless they were who they say they are. Idc what anyone says to be as old as Brushy was and for ppl to actually think he had the wherewithal to make up & memorize and the things he said he did is asinine IMO. The man had the scars, the man knew the facts, he showed Morrison the handcuff trick of big wrists and small hands. I wish I was alive when it went down in the late 40’s early 50’s bc to think a person as famous as The Kid was then let alone now was still alive would be amazing to make the trip and see for myself hoping to meet or get a glimpse of a legendary outlaw!

For some reason seeing this beautiful scenery, I can hear the beginning of blaze of glory playing in my head by Jon Bon Jovi. "Never drew first, but I drew first blood, call me young gun." Hahaha!! can't remember the full lyric.

Heard you on the Blood and Dust podcast. Will definitely be getting your book. And it took me a minute to realize that this is not you recording the video. I was wondering where this accent was during the POD.

This gentleman is Clearly Greatly Enamored of Lincoln & the surrounding area, and did a great job of filming Lincoln & San Patricio. I understand That John Tunstall& Alexander McSween are buried behind one of the prominent buildings, and wonder why we didn't get a look at them......I guess pointing out the Window where Billy shot Bully Bob Olinger 20 times, along with the Hotel that Olinger ran from to meet his fate, the same number of mentions & shots of the place, precluded the Actual Graves of Two Of The Main Characters in that Bloody Time in New Mexico. Just poking a little fun at the Repetitive nature of the video, but it is very interesting. In my Misspent Youth I traveled thru NM near this area several times, but as a Callow Youth I was rushing between Rodeos or Horse Race Tracks & didn't realize just how close I was. Shame On Me for that. Does anybody that watches this video have any idea as to what the Property Values are in the area....Not In Lincoln Proper, but in the surrounding Countryside? I like the look f the places and would seriously consider buying a house on some acreage...10 to 50Acres.... in the area. Right now I own 500 acres in Georgia and am "Kinda" looking for someplace else to relocate to that is even more rural than where I live now.........I also admit that living in an area where so much Old West History, Even As Gruesome as it was, definitely appeals to the "Historian & Cowboy in me. Even at the tender age of 70, if I could find a decent House with enough attached acreage to afford me room for A few Horses, Goats & Other Critters, I'd Sure As Hell Give It More Than Just Cursory Consideration. Do Y'all reckon the New Mexicans would mind having an Old "Stove Up" Georgia Redneck Cowboy in the neighborhood???? I Wonder? Let me know if anybody reading this with knowledge of such things...preferably a Local...... will be so kind

My first couple times watching Young Guns, at the end when Garrett "shoots" Billy and it hits the piñata. I knew he didn't die that night.

Tunstall's and McSween's graves are located behind the Tunstall store. Not sure why he didn't walk back there. Then at the 19: 28 he shows The Torreon, but at the 19:55 mark there is a Marker by the side walk, marking the spot Brady was killed. The house at the 20:15 mark is a place McSween owned along with the building next to it, looking back up the street, and also the Ellis House for the Billy and the men to hid and rest at. McSween had just left that house, and went home. Only to die a some hours later after his house was set on fire.

I believe it was filmed in either 2004 or 2005. It was on a VHS tape that wasn't labeled with a date.

Dr. Valdez was not affiliated with New Mexico tourism in any way. He was an author, historian, and the curator of the Billy the Kid Museum of Canton, TX. He was just really passionate about Billy the Kid and he loved New Mexico.

The breathing loud and heavy makes it extremely hard to enjoy the video. I love the billy the kid story but the heavy breathing is insane.
