That the easiest explanation but kitana and Kung Lao was in the chamber with Lui Kang yet they were going backwards. If it is outside of time then they should not be affected once inside the chamber. The best explanation is luikangs immortality and godliness affects him differently and it is also based on who the time shaper decides who to not affect inside the chamber since the revenants didn’t revert. I believe that Fire God Liu Kang's ending is canon for these reasons: 1. If you don't decide on who to choose for the final battle (Fire God Liu Kang vs Shang Tsung), the game decides for you and picks Fire God Liu Kang by default. If both were canon, the game would have picked randomly. 2. Fire God Liu Kang's ending's length is longer than Shang Tsung's. (There really isn't a good explanation for this reason, but it feels right) 3. The whole 'good-guy-always-wins-the-final-battle' cliche would be a great explanation to this.

I’ll like to add if we look at the game stand point before a cutscene after a fight the character makes a quick quote before defeating the villian or whoever it is. Shang tsung ending it goes to a cutscene that’s it no quick quote, while lui kangs ending he makes a quick quote and finish shang but not only that the camera usually closes up on the person you control after a fight and once again. Shang doesn’t get that while fire god lui kang does.

The good guys haven't legit won in Mortal Kombat since Mk4. Deadly Alliance and onward until MKX it's been a shitshow. Deadly Alliance: Liu Kang is killed, Deadly Alliance army beats Raidens forces, Raiden is defeated. I did enjoy Shang Tsung's reaction to Liu Kang revealing his lie. Almost felt like a jojo moment "Wait, that's my trick!" and certainly the only move that would work because it would be the ONLY thing Shang Tsung couldn't plan for nor predict which is something Liu Kang through the Hourglass could do, he saw that by creating a Deadly Alliance with a touch of Deception, he could avert Armageddon (sorry...needed to get that in but it fits perfectly doesn't it?)

Some of my theories on Lui Kangs legs 1. Raiden merging with him made him immune to changes to the timeline. Main campaign established this when he was the only one not effected by kronika reversing time. (Similar to brusk’e point) 2. He wasn’t effected simply because he is now technically apart of a separate timeline 3. His wounds automatically healed or didn’t materialise at all as a god.

In terms of timeline the Liu Kang who got his legs smashed was the one pulled from the past (right before Shao Kahn broke Kung Lao's neck), Fire God Liu Kang is basically that Liu Kang a few hours later and Revenant Liu Kang is him 2 decades later. So in terms of timeline Fire God goes inbetween the other 2, so if he suffered the injury, then magical healing should have also been shared. Course the whole "shared injury" bit made no sense to begin with (similar to present Kano feeling Sonya kicking past Kano) since you'd think those injuries would have healed in 20 years :P

Liu Kang died once in the OG timeline, when Shang Tsung and Quan Chi teamed up. Then was turned into a Zombie. After Armageddon, New timeline Liu Kang is accidentally killed by Raiden, because letting Shao Kahn merge Earthrealm into Outworld without winning 10 straight Mortal Kombat tournaments will result in him being destroyed by the Elder Gods. New timeline Liu Kang still tried defeating Shao Kahn, which would lead to Armageddon. Raiden tried stopping Liu Kang, but killed him by accident. Liu Kang was then turned into a Revenant by Shinnok, then combined with Raiden to become Fire God Liu Kang.

I mean Fire god Liu Kang is powerful but Shang Tsung drained the souls of 2 gods, 1 titan, Sindel, Shoa Khan and many more and Liu Kang only has raidens powers in addition to his. 2. Where was Baraka when Shao Khan and Sindel invaded Kitana’s fleet? We saw Baraka at the finale battle against Kronika in chapter 12.

The Liu Kang ending is definitely canon, especially since this whole expansion is DLC. The "good" outcome basically aligns with the ending of the primary game, which shouldn't be compromised by an add-on that some people might not even play. Besides, what kind of story would it be if Liu Kang lost? It would take a whole other time travel saga to sort out the mess, and though I think it was actually handled pretty well by the writers, that's definitely a plot element that's run its course in this franchise.

But in one of Cassies intros, she says that it works only against Elder Gods. So how is it possible that her and Johnny can use it whenever. after fg liu kang sent shang tsung, nightwolf and fujin to the past the get the crown, he knew shang tsung would betray them and claim the crown for himself. so he let him win and as he's creating his new era, fg liu kang would send himself into the past to defeat shang tsung and retrieve the crown. shang tsung said "i thought your duties were to stay behind", then fg liu kang said "a lie, something you know well"

Ok, so two questions here. 1): what happened to Kotal Khan’s crew? Like, most of them are completely missing during MK 11’s events. We only see future Erron Black once in a cutscene, and Reptile, Ermac, and Ferra/Torr are all completely absent during the entire thing. I find it weird that the Khan doesn’t have his body guards, especially while a rival Khan is posing a threat to their leader. 2): How does Goro’s corpse have his arms back? During the events of the MK X comics (which I think were canon) we know that the Shokan prince came into conflict with Kotal Khan, resulting in both sets of arms being removed from his body. In MK 11 though we see his corpse sitting in his lair, arms intact. So how did he get them back, or is it simply just an oversight? Also, not really a question, but it’s a shame we didn’t get to see past versions of certain characters like Kotal, Devorah, the Kotal Crew, and the Kolector, see what they were like before MK X and 11. Edit: I think we did see future Erron one other time, and that was during the events of Aftermath where he accompanied Barraka and the other Tarkatans

I think both endings are canon, however they take place in different universes. And when Shang Tsung says “It has started” it hints to a war possibly, and Liu Kang is preparing the great Kung Lao for a war against Shang Tsung’s universe.

I can tell Lui Kang ending would be the cannon ending of the two because he basically resets the timelines while Shang Tsung pretty much does what every bad guy in every MK has been trying to do, merge and concur all realms.

MK12 the new era - Great Kung Lao as the main protagonist. It'd be pretty cool if the developers used this as an opportunity to embrace many of the Fan-created characters you see in games like MK Chaotic, such as Khrome, Sapphira, Nekro, Hydro and Slime - basically incorporate those as the fighters in Great Kung Lao's generation.

I think Fire God Liu Kang’s ending is canon because he could of used the hour glass to know all of Shang Tsung’s moves before the battle completely predicting how the fight would go down flawlessly defeating him. Which is likely what he did, he probably watched the fight go down so many times while waiting for the events to actually happen that he rehearsed it to perfection.

Shang Tsung's ending is likely the official ending. In that ending, we see corrupted Fujin. That version of Fujin is the one NR chose to be his official profil picture in the game. Like all other profile pictures in this game, Fujin's represent his future self, like the revenants' profile pictures. Just my opinion.

Here's a question that you may be able to answer as it is something that has always bugged me. Does Noob Saibot still have his cryomancy abilities? If so why doesn't he ever use it and if not why not? I find it weird that Scorpion gained the ability to wield Hellfire something he could not use beforehand and the other Revenants seemed to retain their original abilities though they seem weaker, but Noob Saibot seems to have completely lost his old abilities for new ones.

Liu's ending is the correct one because of the great Kung Lao. It was very clear that MK wanted a reboot, to clear up time-line issues and with Liu's ending they have that. Plus it now gives them a reason to fully explore characters back stories, such as Onaga(we might see a link between the dragon King and Liu), The great Kung Lao. Maybe even Raiden and Fujin. I also believe that the reason fire god Liu didn't have his legs broken is that he's not directly linked to that timeline. When Raiden saw multiple timelines and fights between him and Liu, if all the timeline characters were linked, then all Liu Kangs would've died when Liu died in early games/timelines

I feel uneasy about the whole new timeline thing considering that Liu Kang pulled a Raiden and restarted the timeline. The new time line looks like it is considered to be way back in time, so does this mean that we won’t have our favourite characters like Sub Zero, Jade, Kitana...ect. In my theory I believe that both the endings could be canon and here’s why. Liu Kang could go back in time to train The Great Kung Loau when all the sudden a version of non corrupted Raiden appears in the timeline and tells Liu Kang that Shang Tsung has taken over majority of the realms. This would be a good idea because on the way they could gather more allies from different timelines such as Mileena, Goro and even another powerful sorcerer like Quan Chi to help them. This would be ideal to me because it would be epic and a good way to introduce a fan favourite which is Mileena

There are leaks for four last characters in the game after this (three male MK characters and one female guest character). Maybe there will be one more expansion for Shang Tsung's ending. Characters like Havik, Ermac and Shinnok in DLC could have their own chapters.

This isn't just another reboot. NetherRealm basically altering MK franchise. Liu Kang is Keeper of Time & Earthrealm's protector, Raiden no longer a God, The Great Kung Lao survive & is now the chosen one, Shang Tsang won't have influence on the tournament since Liu Kang erase him from existence, and other MK characters could see a minor/major personality and story change. This is a bold yet risky move for NetherRealm. Shang Tsang ending... *yawn* straightforward predictable bad ending. Actually this ending offers nothing new. This feelings more like a tower ending than an actual continuation.

I think that the only reason as to why Fire God Liu Kang wasnt affected by getting his legs broken is because he is a god but I also think its because Liu Kang and Revenant Liu Kang already exist in the same timeline so only those two get affected and Fire God Liu Kang was not in that Timeline when that happened, also in the main Mk11 story mode Kronika erases all Realms and is starting a new one before Fire God ends up beating her. Then Fire God sends Shang Tsung, Fujin and Nightwolf into a similar timeline as Fire Gods past but different since it has 3 new characters so Fire God before he sent them he couldve changed the timeline so if anything happens to Past Liu Kang it wont affect the Present Fire God.

Quan chi’s magic and Shang Tsungs are almost one and the same however whilst they’re both probably of creating a revenant you have to remember that quan chi was in a weakened state when some of the revenants were restored and the same can be said for sindels case, soul magic in this case can be seen as the bad side of things and the jinsei can be seen as the good that counteracts the effects of Quan Chi’s magic therefore reversing it :)

6:00 We must remember that God (or Titan, whatever) Liu Kang is also part Raiden. I don't know why people keep on focusing only in Liu Kang's injuries and not in Raiden's too. Also, no one seems to pay attention to the fact that revenant Liu Kang had had his leg broken for years. The same goes for the wound in Johnny Cage's cheek. There's a time gap of at least 20 years between present characters and their past selves, more than enough time to heal a wound or injury.

Also a big point about the revanants being restored. Shang Tsung wasn't alive in MKX. Quan Chi was the only one who could restore the revenants because he was the only one alive who understood that type of magic. So I didn't really blink an eye that Shang Tsung, a person who would DEFINITELY know how souls work, would be able to restore Sindel

For the hourglass one in the base mk11 storyline kronika says that her crown is at Shangs island gaining souls because every lifetime every second counts so to create a new timeline you need time from souls
